As the probe slowly drew closer the scans were able to be better triangulated. Given general star charts as comparisons, this ‘Sphere’ looked to be in the order of 46 million kilometers in diameter. There were, along a ‘portion’ of its outer hull, a number of pock marks indicating meteorite impacts - that alone would suggest it had been there a while. A design feature that perhaps might strike someone as unusual was that it was not a perfect sphere but more honeycombed, like a golf ball or geodesic sphere.
T’Leia frowned as she combed her memory for anything on a Dyson sphere but she was coming up blank.”Dyson sphere? What can you tell us about Dyson sphere’s, Ensign? ” She did not actually recall anything from the Vulcan database on these structures.
Commander T’Leia
Seeing the telemetry, Ari whistled low and soft. “Sooo… not close and not small. We may have a problem here.” She wasn’t loud enough for T’til, she hoped. She glanced back over her shoulder as the woman on the screen commented. “I think they are definitely connected. Whether the movement of the sphere we encountered triggered something, or the fact we tripped a security sensor is what lit them up, is something I am not sure we want to be charging face first into. I’ve come to learn, from being a Chief Science Officer; there is no such thing as ‘truly random’.” She glanced at T’Leia to see if she was speaking out of line. While the woman was her XO, she was also the compass which Ari steared by. It was her first command and sometimes she had to be reminded she was more than a CSO with more power.
Capt Ari
COT’Leia didn’t appear to be put out by the Captain’s comment. It was certainly the Captain’s prerogative to speak to who she wished. “Very true, Captain.” She said mildly waiting for science to weigh in on the matter.
Commander T’Leia
“Sorry ma’am, my thoughts slipped into something I’ve been reading a while ago,” Naomi said, secretly blaming the Science articles she was obsessed with for popping into into her mindset.
She continued to explain herself.
“The Dyson sphere was a thought experiment by the physicist and mathematician Freeman Dyson who dates back to the 1990 century. The size immediately made me think of it,” She leaned back to allow the CO to have a better view of the screen, seeing for herself how large it was.
She didn’t admit how she had trouble grasping the conception originally so her information might’ve been wrong.
“It’s about 550 million times the surface area of Earth to put it more simply. I’ll be happy to send some articles your direction when this is over.”

OOC: I think I understood my research right… it wasn’t easy. XD

Baumann continued to monitor the probe and the station. As the device came ever closer to the unknown object, he watched closely to make sure there were no signs of weapons or offensive systems powering up.
Baumann, AC
Surface visuals indicated that there were ‘potential’ ports for weapon systems. Or something. Composition wise the outer skin was metallic of a form of composite with at least two metal elements that Baumann and Science did not know of.
T’til spoke up. =^= I see that you are occupied. I will leave you to your investigations. The question that remains answering with all of whom you have encountered. This Bane. The .. craft. This Sphere. The question being why are they there and how do they connect. Good hunting, Bonaventure. =^=
- WookieeT’Leia nodded in parting to the Scientist and vaguely wondered if the other officer had been around the humans too long. Would she get that colloquial after serving for so long with the Bonaventure crew?
“Thank you,” Ari responded. She was at least controlled enough to keep her half mumbled growl to herself till the screen went blank.
“Why do I get the feeling ‘they’ have answers but are waiting for us to verify?” Her arm waved absently at the main viewer that now looked out across space. She shook her head and looked at Baumann then Barr. “Anything yet? I’m not getting any closer till I’m sure we won’t somehow get trapped.”
Her brow narrowed as a thought occurred to her. “Let’s scan between here and there. I want to be sure they aren’t in the middle of this mess of anomalies because it houses a net of some kind that’s gonna trap us once ‘we’re’ inside the perimeter.” The fact it occurred to her meant she wasn’t the only who could have thought of it. The ring of power spots would be the perfect cover for such contrivances.
Capt Ari
COT’Leia mused,”Logic would dictate by placement that they are more then likely energy weapons of some sort.”
Commander T’Leia
Naomi silently agreed with T’Leia, especially since the thing they were rotating about would output more than needed to power such things. They would wreck havoc with the structure of the Bonnie if they managed to fire off and hit. She waited for additional orders while at the science station.

“Lieutenant Baumann I think I can boost your tactical scans so we can see if those ports have any residual weapon signature.”
Woods, Armory
Baumann nodded in agreement. “Take care to do anything that may be construed as hostile, Mr. Woods.” he said out loud, but had full faith and confidence in his teammate.
