Noami reviewed the ship leave rules displayed on her PADD. She regretted procrastinating this chore until the last moment, but she never fought to change it. A part of her loved it since it reminded her of her current freedom.

Briskly, she detoured to the thinnest area of the crowd as she followed the nearest wall. Her PADD connected to the starbase’s database before a map popped up. She enlarged it with a quick tap. All the local restaurants and fun places popped up. Naomi frowned at the low number of buildings dedicated to fun.

Mentally, the scientist groaned. “This is going to be a ‘fun’ leave.”

Her eyes left the screen and peered through the crowd until she spotted the XO. It shocked her at how easy it was to spot a human male among a sea of Vulcans. Wasting no time, she followed him down the hallway and rushed to catch up.

“Commander Knight!” She called out to gain his attention.

OOC: Just a thought but....wouldn’t talking to yourself be more fun then these boring Enterprise era vulcans? :P

As Jonathan was following his nose, he thought he heard someone calling his name. Looking around he saw Naomi coming down the hallway. Waving towards her, he stepped to the side to let her catch up.

“Hi Ensign, taking a chance to explore the station?” he asked as she finally caught up.

Naomi realized she needed more gym time. Her breath became heavy, and her limbs stung when she finally caught up. Her finger raised to ask for a moment and worked on slowing her breathing. She blamed her busy schedule for her lacking fitness. Her heart finally calmed down as she flashed the man a smile.

“Yes. The Bonnie is starting to feel like a floating can. Beside, people say a change of scenery is good for the soul.”

She shrugged off the saying and held up her PADD to show the XO.

“It’s my first time here and it has not given the best impression. It seems to have a lack of interesting places to visit. You wouldn’t happen to know any places not on the map?”

“Vulcan scenery is definitely different,” Jonathan said with a laugh.

“And I have never been to this particular starbase myself. However, I’ve learned over the last couple of Vulcan facilities I’ve been to that it isn’t all drab all the time. The best way to find something interesting is to follow the noise, because that is where you’ll find the trading hub. I was actually in search for it myself, care to join me?”

“With this station set up, it’s hard to believe that.” Naomi stated as she listened to him state the obvious.

Her expression lightened up when he asked her to join him.

“Yes. If I’m going to be wandering a ship, rather have someone I know than have a search party send out later.” Naturally she was joking over her lack of direction on occasion. It was pretty bad that she some times got lost on the ship she roamed daily.

“Well I can’t guarantee that we won’t get lost. But the one nice thing about a Vulcan station, it is all pretty logically laid out,” he said with a wink.

“I know they will send a search party for you at least.”

Naomi appreciated the playfulness with the man. It surprised her and was a nice change from the stiff superiors she worked underneath in the labs.

Jonathan looked around where they were standing, getting his bearings back. After a few moments he pointed towards one of the hallways. “I think we will have the best of luck going that way.”

Naomi rose her eyebrow at his suggestion. She caught the lack of confidence in his decision and questioned it. Before she could speak, the man reacted on impulse.

Leading the way he started walking in the direction he picked. “So what sorts of interesting things were you looking to explore while you were here?”

“First off,” Naomi started, “my goal was to get off the ship. We’ve been in space for so long and I needed new scenery.”

She licked her lips to wet the dry surface and continued. “I think while I’m here, I want to learn more about the scientific developments the Vulcans have over biology and life on other planets. I am also curious if they understand the concept of fun and what that leads to.”

Jonathan laughed. “I can definitely understand that. The ships have definitely gotten better, but there is only so much to look at as we fly through space. Plus what’s the point of coming to these places if we don’t get a chance to explore some.

“In my experience, they do have fun, it’s just not always in the ways you’d think. But that would be easy for me to point out, unlike what you are asking about for any scientific developments they’ve made. In my experience they’ve been pretty mum about sharing that sort of stuff. But I think,” he said looking around them. “I could point you towards one of the public access points and you can see what they are willing to share.”
