“I’ll do first try on there,” El said. “You run over to my machine shop and the parts cabinet. Standard model AE44F Feed Sensor. Then I’ll install it while you’re changing.” She sounded rather impressive saying that, however it was more that those sensors were multipurpose and self-configuring. That was a bonus for not having a great deal of unique parts aboard however it also invited things like this happening.

“Once security and the others are here, we’ll go. Make sure everything’s secure. We’re not sure what crashed them. So let’s be prepared for anything, including a rough entry.” She nodded to them and went to check on the other departments from the console by the door, leaving them to continue their conversation.

With a shrug the NEs present going down changed clothes off to the side behind some boxes.

While Aelef was off El poked about the pile of clothes and glancing at the Captain trying to fathom just how she could pick up something at random and still look good. The pickings looked to be diverse. She set aside a muscle like shirt and vest for Aelef that might fit him. He’d have to go fish for trousers. Climbing back into the cramped pod she did a quick change and emerging in a slightly baggy hoodie and sweatpants slightly torn at the right knee. She had to fight with a pair of sneakers, however, to tighten them to fit. Stowing her regular uniform coveralls in the already cramped flight control room she met Aelef shooting back into the room.

“Got it, ah,” he said, halting and looking at her. El shrugged, took the sensor and replied, “Yes, I’m in here somewhere. Your turn. I’ll swap the sensor.” She scanned it with her eyes. It was not large, looking larger in the packaging. She moved to the open panel and looked in, thinking she was glad her hands were not large. Observing the unit for a moment, oblivious to the locker room activity behind her, El reached in to pluck out the sensor and replace it, pressing a small release unit next to it which retracted the tiny pins that locked the sensor in place and connected it to the rest of the thruster unit. She found this new ‘uniform’ to be comfortable.

“Readings all good,” was the report after successive, if quick, tests while the others were coming in. El did have to wonder who was going down given the pod could handle six. But that was for bigger minds to fathom, El mused as she secured the panel again. Standing, she reached for the rag she often had at her waist to wiper her hands, but it was gone and only the sweats remained. Shrugging she wiped her palms off on the sweats and waited for orders to go aboard who was going aboard.

NE, Dr. Blackwell arrived a little late but was already out of uniform, having already been informed of the change of clothes. The mustachioed man quickly put his medical equipment into an unassuming satchel, his impressive brown mustache had been trimmed recently and didn’t bristle as much as it used to. He took position at the rear waiting to join the mission.

With everyone prepared in the older style clothes. In a bit more the errant sensor on the shuttle pod was also soon replaced and verified as working. They were as ready as they would be .

Blackwell, now comfortably seated, stroked his now shorter moustache wistfully “This sounds like it will be quite the adventure” He said to no one in particular.
