Ari patted Barr on the shoulder, “Lemme know soon as it’s launched.” Moving over to Baumann, she looked at the trajectories he had. “Looks good. Don’t worry about fast evac. If it gets in there, that’s all that matters. Just need to get signal in, then listen to response. But keep other possible entry and exit in case we have to get shuttles in there.” Her hand was on the back of his seat and she let her finger tips lightly brush his back. There was a connection between them, or she thought there was. But it hadn’t been explored. She just hoped this exercise, this First Contact mission, wasn’t going to become the end of them all and rob her of a chance to find out.

Letting go of his seat and glancing back at T’Til and T’Leia, she nodded. “Soon as it’s ready.”

At her touch, Baumann’s back muscles twitched slightly, but his posture didn’t reflect it. He leaned back slightly against her fingertips and said “Understood, Captain. I’ll start preparations for shuttle operations.”

His reassuring pressure had given Ari just the bolstering she needed.

Naomi strolled to the bridge, with her fellow Scientist in her wake. On the way, she had decided to grab one of the bunky scanners. She didn’t trust one device to give enough data if she was going to be truthful with herself. The thing felt like it weighed a ton, but she ignored the struggle as she pressed the button and stepped into the bridge. She was secretly hoping no one would question what took them so long. Unsure what to do, she stood off to the side and waited for farther orders. Interrupting a conversation was bad enough, but she had no idea where the being entered at.

OOC: The ‘maybe’ statement in the reply of ‘with her fellow Scientist in her wake’ was accidently left out. I wanted to make that clear so no one thought I was puppeting Silva, though Naomi wouldn’t have left the labs without him and I haven’t gotten a reply from him in the last thread. So as far as Naomi knows, Silva was right behind her when they left the lab. Sorry, I didn’t want anyone to get the wrong impression.

-Janice B.

OOC: Understood, Janice:)

IC:
T’Leia glanced around the bridge and noted their new Comms officer was missing and she wanted him here for this first contact so she hit the comms.
[O]Commander T’Leia to Lt. jg Dysart. Report to the bridge.[C]

Commander T’Leia

OOC: I got a hold of Geoff today, Janice and he said unfortunately he needs to drop this character so just use an NE if you need too.:)

Krys

[O]Y-yes sir.[C]

Max had finished his rounds as Lieutenant Baumann ordered him to complete. As he stepped over the threshold of the door to the bridge, he took his post next to Lieutenant Baumann.

Woods, Armory

OOC: Fixing thread split.

IC: Wulf looked up and nodded to Baumann. “Lieutenant. Is everything in order?”

Baumann, AC

Max nodded “Yes Sir.”
Woods

Alan stepped onto the bridge. Watching the floor, he walked to his station at comms. He looked at the board, upset that someone had changed some settings. He fixed the station to suit his idiosyncratic needs.

-Lt(j.g.) Alan Dysart, Comms/Linguist

“Lt. Barr, is the probe ready?” T’Leia asked as she looked over at the science station.

Commander T’Leia

Ari watched everyone, including those just joining the bridge, and nodded with a reassuring smile. “Let’s get it launched soon as it’s ready and cleared.” She wanted this done and over with for two reasons. One, this section of space was starting to rub her wrong. And two, she didn’t like T’Til looking over her shoulder at every move they made. She never did like the whole ‘waiting for you to mess up’ look the onlooker always seemed to have.

“Trajectory programmed. As soon as Science is ready, we can launch on your command, Captain.” Baumann said flatly. He looked at Woods and said “Mr. Woods. When the probe in launched, keep an eye on the power levels from the station. If you see any kind of ‘reaction’, speak up immediately.”

Baumann, AC

OOC: Back .. life rather went off the rails for a bit …
IC:

T’til listened and nodded, a brow raised in a patronizing Vulcan way of saying to a child, ‘A probe is prudent and logical.’ She said, “I am aware that the species which you encountered appear very powerful. Apart from the potential coincidence of this … station … powering up a this particular time, do you know for certain that it is associated with any of the powers that be that you have encountered?”

“Unknown.” T’Leiasaid in answer to T’til as she answered the other woman’s question. “It would be logical to think it would have some connection given its placement.”
She looked back toward the science station.
“Science? Anything on the probe?”

Commander T’Leia

The probe, after it is launched, quickly makes it evident that the station is a fair ways away and incredibly huge - on the scale of a Dyson sphere …
Bad Wookiee

Naomi considered herself being a good officer at this moment. She didn’t complain or whine, instead she stood there completely clueless to where she should start. Originally she knew she was suppose to scan the location where the being entered with the current scanner strapped to her back. With no direction, she was left to literally watch the proceedings until someone ordered her somewhere and gave her a new task.

Her eyes drifted to the CO then slipped off her scanner and into an empty science station chair. She quickly brought up the information and then spoke, ” It seems the station is too far out and from the scaling, about the size of a Dyson sphere Captain.”

She attempted to fine tune the scans in order to collect more information even from their current coordinates.

–ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci

T’Leia frowned as she combed her memory for anything on a Dyson sphere but she was coming up blank.”Dyson sphere? What can you tell us about Dyson sphere’s, Ensign? ” She did not actually recall anything from the Vulcan database on these structures.

Commander T’Leia

Seeing the telemetry, Ari whistled low and soft. “Sooo… not close and not small. We may have a problem here.” She wasn’t loud enough for T’til, she hoped. She glanced back over her shoulder as the woman on the screen commented. “I think they are definitely connected. Whether the movement of the sphere we encountered triggered something, or the fact we tripped a security sensor is what lit them up, is something I am not sure we want to be charging face first into. I’ve come to learn, from being a Chief Science Officer; there is no such thing as ‘truly random’.” She glanced at T’Leia to see if she was speaking out of line. While the woman was her XO, she was also the compass which Ari steared by. It was her first command and sometimes she had to be reminded she was more than a CSO with more power.

Capt Ari
CO

T’Leia didn’t appear to be put out by the Captain’s comment. It was certainly the Captain’s prerogative to speak to who she wished. “Very true, Captain.” She said mildly waiting for science to weigh in on the matter.
