Looking then to the soldier and the other guest, and smiled. “It really has been a pleasure meeting you. We will help as much as we can with some food and basic medical supplies before we leave, but that is all we can do. Meanwhile, we will also see what can be done so this doesn’t happen again. I will see about getting a delegation out here to help you adjust to this new location in the stars, though. Soon as I am able. I give you my word. Is there anything you wish to ask of me before you go home?”

The woman Elm just nodded slightly, “..I guess that is all you can do..” She said.

As for the officer he just gave a noncommittal shrug. “..If you are not here to save us then we must save ourselves, if we can’t do that then there is no point in our continued struggles..” he replied.

Something told her the others wouldn’t be pleased to be going back to a war torn world, but she really was out of her depth on this one and hope that diplomats would be better suited to helping this planet adjust, and perhaps, keep the planet jumping from happening again. She also made a mental note to set warning beacons as soon as the others were clear of the ship.

As Ari finished off talking to the guests, Jonathan motioned for the Doctor to step to the side with him.

“Doctor, head down to the transporter pad and lets start beaming those pods up ASAP. I’ll be down with our guests as soon as they finish up here with the Captain. And Doc, if things go south before I get there, make sure we get our people back. Okay?”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Rachel nodded “Aye” She said simply, turning on the spot and strode out of the mess hall, ducking to get past the doorway. She quietly hummed an Andorian marching song as she went about her way.

Dr. Grey - CMO

NE Galen Sideris skidded into the galley narrowly missing Dr Grey as she exited. “Ma’am,” he said quickly and moving a hand up to tip his hat where he didn’t have one. Ducking around her and into the galley he looked about. The XO was there. Was all the brass up at this hour? What happened to a nice calm gamma shift where nothing happened? His eyes moved about to who else was there. There was that soldier El mentioned. He didn’t look that yummy, he thought. But he did look like he had gone through the ringer, as his old gran used to say. The girl was there too. She looked rustic, but had a soft beauty to her, but right now looked to him like she felt very out of place.

Quickly opting for Elm, he slowly approached her. “Elm? Hi, I’m Galen. El sent me her to see how you were doing and she had a couple of questions.” That wasn’t exactly true. She didn’t precisely send her regards to her welfare but his own country manners seemed to need that. He looked out the window looking for the big black ship.

OOC: Yes it can be clearly seen! Its a huge black diamond shaped object in direct orbit over the northern pole of the planet massively dwarfing the Bonnie,

Elm turned to Galen, “..Uh hello? And um, yes what did El need from me further?” she asked.

“Do you recognize that?” he asked, pointing. He glanced over to the soldier to try to get him into the conversation too.

Both Elm and the officer turned to where he pointed, “..No I do not.” Elm said.

Shaking his head after a moment, the officer seemed about to say the same but then paused again as if in deeper thought. “..No off hand no, it does not appear to be anything either my side or the MACARMs are capable of. If anything its coloration reminds me of old legends and stories of the Greyhound’s Saviors fight against the vile Serpents they fought and saved our ancestors from..” he said.

At this Elm’s eyes widened in recognition. “..Oh yes! I remember too now similar things from my schooling days!” she confirmed with nods and a bit of fear in her eyes.

Galen was both encouraged and, well, not. On the upside they had some recognition but was that good or, well, not. That thing was bigger than in the screen in engineering. He wanted to whistle but held it. He also wanted to rub is palms on the side of his coveralls but one was full with the binoculars. “Old stories are good.” He glanced from the soldier to Elm. She looked a bit green. He looked like he was waking up. “Uh, which side were they on?” he asked, his thumb pointing to the beast of a ship hanging out in space.

To the XO, he said, “Commander, sir, Ensign El sent me here to ask these folks if they recognize the ship in orbit. It doesn’t seem to be from around here.”

  • Galen, Eng

Ari watched the Ensign come in and whirl around the room. At the mention of the ship, she frowned and moved to the window. Off to the side, and down to the right, barely visible to them unless you were looking for it, was a black ship. Frowning, she glanced at the XO. “Did you know anything about this?” She moved back to the wall comm. [O]Bridge… what are the readings on the ship? When did it appear and has it hailed us yet?[O] She wasn’t sure if she liked the idea of another ship being up here or not. And the other question was, was it there before they popped back into this sector of space? Or was it joining them now for the first time?

A million other questions floated through her mind, but all she could think was that this was not going to be as smooth as she hoped. Something told her this was about to get a lot stickier.

Galen froze. He had completely missed seeing the Captain. Inwardly he cringed as he heard the questions. What was going on? Engineering had had a virtual alien party there and the two main officers had no clue? He turned to them but kept Elm in the conversation with his body angle. “Um, sirs,” he said, glancing to them, then to the soldier then to Elm, “Sayers saw it as it happened. I talked to him. He said the spatial anomaly out there melted off and then he saw that ship there over the pole. When I went to Engineering they had it up on the display and were surmising what it might be and running scans and language algorithms. No life signs. We think it might be a big unmanned buoy. Huge power plant. Thin hull. Big flashing lights. ” He paused, feeling a little foolish with the macro-binoculars in hand. “El, er, Ensign Serinde sent me here to our guests to see if they recognize it.” He felt incredibly awkward. What was the bridge doing? “Uh, bridge has polarized the hull and we’ve diverted power to sensors and readied engines at their call.” He felt the urge to whistle something but resisted that urge.

He looked at the soldier and Elm, scratched his chin absently, realizing his intro had been expended on the officers. Glancing to the port windows he said, “It’s right there. If you need to look closer you can use these,” he said to Elm and included the soldier with a glance and a nod as he held the binoculars in his open palm.

  • NC Galen, Eng

Shaking their heads neither seemed needing to use the binoculars, Elm for her own part just went to sit back down at a table, seeming nervous and even a little afraid again. The officer meanwhile looked like a man who had shifted from one of neutrality and caution on his position on the Bonaventure, to wanting to do something to take action to defend his home below at what he perceived to be a threat as he stared defiantly out the window of the Mess Hall.

GM CockRoach

For a moment Galen could see now what El might see in the soldier. That was one switched on fellow now. “Do you remember any tactics used?” Gods, the time was a century ago. What kind of tech would these Serpents have now? He glanced at the ship outside. He thought El would be proud of his question. It was, to him, pertinent and also contextual. Of the legends a soldier would pick up on those parts of it more than others. Or so he supposed. The guy wanted to do something.

Just then El came over his comms unit. [o] El to Galen. We’re trying to scan to see if we can beam into that ship. Is the Captain or XO there to look into that possibility? [c] There. Maybe the soldier would have something to do now if that happened. If they could. El continued. [o] Best that I can tell right now off the data is that those lights are a signal that may be integrating with subspace, be it a way of communication or … burrowing into subspace. We’re still theorizing. How exciting is this!!? [c]

Galen took that in and whistled.
- Galen

Jonathan took a couple of steps closer to Galen so he could speak into his comm unit. [O]I’m here Ensign. What is the current theory on how the lights could be burrowing into subspace? [O]

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

[o] The lights are a kind of transmitter, sir, projecting energy, using the light to express mathematical formulae. It’s kind of like our computers using working through code to spit out a solution to a problem. What we are seeing in the light is the outworking of the math and seeing the program operate. The math is based on complex warp theory channeled as a communications wave that is outwardly manifesting as the lights and burrowing through subspace. Think of this this way, sir. We could maybe do the same thing utilizing say the nacelles with a complex working of a warp field but doing that standing still. [c] She paused as though that revelation was new to her, which it was. [o] That ship was built to do what it is doing. Us .. not so much, but that’s the picture [c] she said, trying not to make it like she was explaining ‘engineering for dummies’ to the XO.
El, Eng

It took a second for it to finally click in Jonathan’s mind. [O] Got it now Ensign. Any chance in deciphering the signal? Could be helpful to figure out a way to communicate with them. [C]

Ari frowned. Another ship from legends? And yet this time it was the mutual enemy? This didn’t bode well. Glancing at the XO, she shook her head. “No one beams over till we know what we’re dealing with. I’m going to the bridge. If it guests can be off any help, we could certainly use it. If not, leadership positions and people on the surface would be helpful. Maybe we can end this way with a common enemy, besides us, being in the skies. I’m going to the bridge.”

She turned on her heels and jogged out the door as soon as it parted. Sadly, it didn’t occur to get she had failed to say good bye to their guests. Right now, she needed to find out what this other ship was and what it was doing here. The subspace issue she’d get questions to on the bridge.

((Moving to the bridge))

“Understood Captain,” Jonathan said before turning back towards Galen. [O] For now we hold off on transporting over, Captain’s orders. See what you can find out about the spacecraft, and relay it to the bridge. [C]

Looking at their guests, Jonathan moved back towards them. “I think it’s time we get you back home.”
