Ari patted Barr on the shoulder, “Lemme know soon as it’s launched.” Moving over to Baumann, she looked at the trajectories he had. “Looks good. Don’t worry about fast evac. If it gets in there, that’s all that matters. Just need to get signal in, then listen to response. But keep other possible entry and exit in case we have to get shuttles in there.” Her hand was on the back of his seat and she let her finger tips lightly brush his back. There was a connection between them, or she thought there was. But it hadn’t been explored. She just hoped this exercise, this First Contact mission, wasn’t going to become the end of them all and rob her of a chance to find out.

Letting go of his seat and glancing back at T’Til and T’Leia, she nodded. “Soon as it’s ready.”

At her touch, Baumann’s back muscles twitched slightly, but his posture didn’t reflect it. He leaned back slightly against her fingertips and said “Understood, Captain. I’ll start preparations for shuttle operations.”

His reassuring pressure had given Ari just the bolstering she needed.

Naomi strolled to the bridge, with her fellow Scientist in her wake. On the way, she had decided to grab one of the bunky scanners. She didn’t trust one device to give enough data if she was going to be truthful with herself. The thing felt like it weighed a ton, but she ignored the struggle as she pressed the button and stepped into the bridge. She was secretly hoping no one would question what took them so long. Unsure what to do, she stood off to the side and waited for farther orders. Interrupting a conversation was bad enough, but she had no idea where the being entered at.

OOC: The ‘maybe’ statement in the reply of ‘with her fellow Scientist in her wake’ was accidently left out. I wanted to make that clear so no one thought I was puppeting Silva, though Naomi wouldn’t have left the labs without him and I haven’t gotten a reply from him in the last thread. So as far as Naomi knows, Silva was right behind her when they left the lab. Sorry, I didn’t want anyone to get the wrong impression.

Max had finished his rounds as Lieutenant Baumann ordered him to complete. As he stepped over the threshold of the door to the bridge, he took his post next to Lieutenant Baumann.

IC: Wulf looked up and nodded to Baumann. “Lieutenant. Is everything in order?”

Alan stepped onto the bridge. Watching the floor, he walked to his station at comms. He looked at the board, upset that someone had changed some settings. He fixed the station to suit his idiosyncratic needs.

“Lt. Barr, is the probe ready?” T’Leia asked as she looked over at the science station.

Ari watched everyone, including those just joining the bridge, and nodded with a reassuring smile. “Let’s get it launched soon as it’s ready and cleared.” She wanted this done and over with for two reasons. One, this section of space was starting to rub her wrong. And two, she didn’t like T’Til looking over her shoulder at every move they made. She never did like the whole ‘waiting for you to mess up’ look the onlooker always seemed to have.

“Trajectory programmed. As soon as Science is ready, we can launch on your command, Captain.” Baumann said flatly. He looked at Woods and said “Mr. Woods. When the probe in launched, keep an eye on the power levels from the station. If you see any kind of ‘reaction’, speak up immediately.”
