On their return to the shop, El went back over to Roger. “Find anything more?” she asked as she sat on the improvised seat. As she did so she realized that she had blood on her hands from helping the doctor with the man. For some moments she just stared at it before trying to rub it off on her cloak. There were now more locals there with them than they were. Were they bringing them all up two by two like some kind of strange Ark story?
- El, Eng“No, I’m just finishing up the report the Captain asked for. What have I missed?” Lt. Sanks responded to El. “Wait, is that your blood? Are you hurt?” The young linguist was worried and concerned that the blood was her blood.
Lt. Sanks, linguist.“The last encounter,” El said quietly, nodding to the girl, was much more exciting. This was quick but .. I don’t know Roger. This place seems so messed up. Like it went South so fast.” Not unlike their situation where they were stuck in effectively a stellar eddy where they might not get out of even with years of travel. It wasn’t the future El had thought of for herself. She had been working at rubbing her palm on her pantleg. “What?” She glanced at her palm. “No.” Her tone had a touch of annoyance. “Picked it up helping carry that fellow over.” She gestured toward the soldier the doctor was working on then examined her palm. The stuff stuck worse than the lubricants she used in the machine shop back on the ship. Pulling out her small water bottle from the satchel she poured some on her hand. “Should have just beamed up out there.”
El, Eng[O] Jonathan here, go ahead. [O]
Cmdr. McKnight - XO (crosspost)
Relieved that McKnight answered, it was obvious in her voice despite trying to hide it. [O]We have wounded assets and need to get back to the ship. I think you all should join us as soon as possible. We need to see what we’ve figured out, speak to the soldier we have, and try and figure our next step.[O] She didn’t like this many of the crew, Command Staff included, to be away from the ship. And finding out what everyone had discovered in the last few hours might give them a more definitive direction than just wandering about the planet.

(crosspost)Rachel started preparing the injured man for moving, she was quietly humming what sounded like a jaunty tune more befitting a night of drinking at a pub than assisting the gravely injured, anyone that caught a look at her face would see her contentment. It had been too long since she had been able to do some proper field medicine.
Dr. Grey - CMO
“Well, at least it isn’t your blood.” Roger responded to El. He felt like she needed a hug of friendly comfort, but this wasn’t the time for that. “You going to be ok? It sounds like what happened up there was dangerous. I’m glad you made it back safe.” He stated. “I know you don’t always like to express your feelings, but if you need to, anytime you need to, my ear is open to listen. I mean, I know you can always talk to the counselor, but I’m just letting you know I’m available as well.” Roger told her, trying to help her cope with what she just experienced the best he could.
LT. Sanks, LinguistEl flashed a quick, impish look that disappeared as quickly. “It was exciting though I would not have minded the pistols to not be on stun.” A frown replaced the smile and she shook her head. “This last bit was much easier than the last one. That was tense when Roger was caught flatfooted. This time it was all surprise; they were busy.” She glanced at the broken man the doctor was working on. “We can talk over a beer in the mess when we get back,” she said. She didn’t exactly feel the fragile thing perhaps that this Roger thought she was, but she was feeling the girl who rather wasn’t excited about having blood on her.
[O] Understood. Though you should be aware that we’ve only just been able to make headway in finding the source of the energy signature we detected. We had a few distractions over here. I could return to the ship and let the team continue with there investigation while I fill you in on what we did find out. [O]
Cmdr. McKnight - XO (Crosspost)
El listened to the reply. “Is that the same source as the girl had talked about north of Bos’ton?” El asked, realizing that she didn’t know the girl’s name, or had forgotten it. The latter disturbed her as she had a good memory, usually.
- El, Eng“Here, wipe it with water, that should help.” He said giving her his water container and a piece of cloth he had in his bag. “Otherwise, you’re just going to keep moving it around your hand and not off of it.” He continued as he went back to working on his report on his padd.
Lt. Sanks, Linguist.
El was sure that if she looked she’d find a sink in this place to wash with. Inside she felt irked as she took up the rag. he carried rags on away missions? Was he like some kind of Dr Who who had any kinds of random things in his pockets? Jelly Babies? Apple core? Wiping away the remnants on the heel of her hand she sighed. What was up, playing the ‘girl’ like this. She frowned but turned that back to a small smile as she returned the water. She replied softly to Roger. “What I don’t get is their timeline of these things. Aliens coming for repairs a week ago. Their history has a savior from space. Have you found anything to put this stuff together?”
Ari nodded, despite McKnight not being able to see her. [O]Let’s get at least you back. Anyone else needing a break can come as well. We should probably consider a rotation or pulling back once we’ve got something. I don’t want everyone spending the night down here. We don’t have the food or water or shelter for it. And I don’t want anyone caught unawares. We have enough to worry about without rescues being a part of it. See you on the ship. Remind the others to leave comms open. [O]
She was glad they had a clue. She wasn’t sure they did, yet. Hopefully the folks they took to the ship would assist them. Now… how to take them there without telling them they were going to a space ship. Sure, they were a society capable of space flight and warp. But was that where they were at this moment? And with their history being so inundated with ships and space travel, would this strengthen or weaken their belief and pride in what their past held?
Either way, she couldn’t, in good conscious, let the man remain here and die. She took a deep breath and tapped her comm letting transport know how many were coming and to have medical standing by. Once the acknowledgment came, she turned to the others. “I want one of you paired with a guest at all times. And let’s go straight from the landing point to medical. Shall we?” She didn’t say transporter room on purpose. And she hoped the others caught what she had done.

El looked puzzled, but did catch the reference from the Captain. Evidently the doctor would be with the injured soldier. But that only left the girl. Roger was the linguist. He would be the obvious one to communicate with her. “Are the rest of us going to Captain?” Granted that would only leave a couple of them if so. What was the other group doing? How ‘could’ they reverse this condition in space that was holding them trapped here? Could it be as easy as a on and off switch? But why did they turn it on? Did they know this would happen?
