X-Ray scans and energy scans soon returned negative, no signs of any known explosives were in evidence, nor that the room was occupied with anything living or not.

Baumann took the phase pistol and removed the door hinges, and then moved the door aside and looked in.

Inside was a mostly empty room, the only obvious thing present was a thin layer of dust over empty crates and bottles. Nothing of importance seemed obvious in here unless he wanted to delve deeper.

Just as Baumann was looking around he would hear the sudden roar of three jet like engines, and bright lights searching over the compound outside. There was alien language shouts he could not recognize from here too and the dull thump thump thump of beating helicopter rotors above. Glancing out when he would he could see the pilot Ry’an being tended to by similar garbed medical personnel who had come out of a chopper nearby, meanwhile above two more combat suited choppers were flying air cover lights probing the ground in places.

He could see Ry’an explaining something to the medical personnel, then pointing in his direction. The rest of the landing party he had come down with had it seemed departed without him leaving him behind and unaware of the incoming alien craft!

Baumann cursed silently and then began to look for an exit. Not seeing one, he clenched his jaw and pulled his communicator. [O] Baumann to Bonaventure. Emergency transport now. [O] and he watched from the shadows of the door and hoped the ship was listening.
