On all the buildings assorted ‘keep out’ signs were in the alien language and English. A warning plate sign in front of them read the following in the dual languages. ‘Entry absolutely forbidden from all scientific and engineering personnel of of B-11 security level or lower. B-12 or higher security level clearance required for entry. If you do not have such entry leave now or face justical punishment by law and security forces on base site.’ Interestingly the sign of a Terran dog greyhound with a star shooting out around it was present. The words in Terran Latin of all things read ‘Fast, Reliable, and To The Stars!’.

Once the last person was through the fence, Baumann twisted the single strand of the chain-link he had cut back in, re-securing the fence and making it appear undisturbed. Looking around, he eyed the three structures and then pointed to the L-shaped building. “That one. It’s the most secure against the elements. But before we go, we should check the other buildings. Kenneth, would you please check that building?” he said to the Helmsman and he pointed to the wood and metal building. “See if there are any supplies we can use. I will check over there.” and he pointed to the shorter concrete building with the guard shack. “The rest of you, take shelter on the outside of the main building. When we get back, we will try to see if we can get inside.” and he nodded once and moved to the building.

Baumann, Intel

Heading to the concrete and guard shack Baumann found it boarded up by metal sheets and welded into place around doors and windows. A large heavy metal shack door was on the guard shack. A small handle and control pad off to the right still showing a small blinking red light that power was being fed to it from somewhere.

Baumann made sure that the pilot was out of the line of sight and then pulled his phaser. Picking a wall on the opposite side of the building from the rest of the group waiting with the pilot, he aimed and began cutting a hole in the concrete, taking care to make as little noise as possible.

Phasing through the concrete took a little work, as he found some inner lining which was made of some offshoot of reinforced titanium sheets. But after a moment those too yielded to the phase pistols power and he had a hole roughly 6 feet high by 6 feet wide to make use of. No sooner had the wall’s cut cooled when a whirr was heard from inside and dropping from the ceiling an automated drone with twin needle like appendages was floating in one corner and ready to fire it seemed. What the needles would do was anyone’s guess but they dripped some kind of liquid. Using the dual language speech it eventually spoke in English. “..Alert, intruder detected, present B-12 ID or be stunned..” It stated.

Kenneth nodded slightly and helped Ry’an sit down near the fence before he began creeping towards the gestured to building. He quietly searched for a door or other opening, pulling out a flashlight once he was far enough away from the group.

Fleet, Helm

Approaching the wood and metal building Kenneth found a boarded up window or a boarded up door as possible entry points. The boarding would need to be pulled off but nails seemed the only thing stopping him, nothing a bit of elbow grease and strength wouldn’t solve.

Kenneth didn’t waste much time, checking to see if he was within sight of the others before grabbing onto a plank that looked like it had seen better days and giving it a good tug to test its strength. He pulled out an old engineering tool and used the laser cutter to quickly snip around the stiffer nails.

Fleet, Helm

Pulling off the boards was easy enough with the laser cutter assistance. Dropping the boards the one door to the side creeped open with the extra support, almost beckoning him inside.

Pulling out his flashlight, Kenneth stuck the light into the cracked-open door first, following with his head and shoulders a moment later. The flashlight panned around the room, looking for any possible threats first before he would step in fully.

Fleet, Helm

For Kenneth the room appeared mostly like an abandoned barracks, the room was empty though dark and dry which was nice. But lacked any beds or other niceties of culture and society. Whoever did the stripping when the base closed down seemingly did a good job.

“Empty, but could be a good place to rest,” he muttered to himself, taking a step into the barracks and glancing around to see if there were any off-shoot rooms or if this was the only room in the building.

For Kenneth beyond a pair of side rooms which were revealed to be shower stalls and bathroom units there was no other rooms present. Sadly the showers were not working nor the water on tap.

Kenny nodded to himself, then slid back out of the building and headed back to the rest of the group.

Baumann watched the drone carefully and protected himself as best as he could behind the wall. He looked around for anything that may be of assistance, but saw nothing that apparent. He had a choice to make: Shoot the drone, or try to hack it remotely. Moving to cover behind the wall, he opted for choice number two. It was quieter, and it may provide them with useful information. Pulling his Intel scanner, he began trying to access the drone’s controls and overrides… but he kept the phaser ready as a last resort.

Baumann, Intel

Sadly the drone didn’t have a remote access point or comm connection. So Baumann’s efforts failed.

Baumann looked at the tricorder and then shrugged. Putting it away, he aimed the phaser around the corner and fired.

Fleet, Helm

The dull whine of the phase pistol fired and the drone staggered then sparked and collapsed to the ground pretty much destroyed.

GM CockRoach

Baumann moved inside quickly and scanned the room for any more threats. He then moved to the drone and checked to make sure it was indeed out of commission. The big German then stood fully upright and looked around the room, taking in the structure and trying to determine next steps.

Fleet, Helm

The drone was indeed out of commission, inside the guard shack a small quite empty metal desk was present, but no chairs or other things were about. A small blinking red button just to the right of the desk was obvious. Which seemed by a thin wire on the wall was connected to the blinking control pad outside on the other building for entry.

GM CockRoach

Baumann looked around and in the room, making sure to check the desk for anything that may have been missed by the original occupants. After his search, he went to the other buildings they had access to and searched them before turning his attention to the last building.

Baumann, Intel

Nothing was in the desk other then some spider like webbing and a few dead insects. The last building in question was a smaller square shaped shack, made of concrete as well. A single door on the left side was present. A warning sign was also present slightly hanging on one broken hinge it read ‘Warning explosives inside’. Whether said explosives were still present was anyone’s guess though.
