Indeed, I think we are out of our league, Captain. I would postulate though that perhaps this ‘Bane’ has some sort of technology that allows them to ‘gate’ to another space or time. A mystery that may be solved in time perhaps or perhaps not. The universe is a mysterious place.”It was the first time that the Captain would have heard such an almost whimsical statement from her XO. It was one of the things that had led T’Leia to serving on starships. The chance to see the mysteries and perhaps assist in solving them.

For a moment, anyone glancing at the XO and CO would see what appeared to be a ‘trading of places’. It was T’Leia waxing poetic and postulating about probabilities. And it was Ari who raised an eyebrow in amazement at her right hand’s comment. “Wow…” she smiled and shook her head in amusement. “Well, then. We’re agreed.” She turned to those who were on the bridge. “Science, let’s drop a bouy marker and warning to ships in the area. Brief summary that includes awaiting further instruction from Starfleet. Then send a message back to Earth with entire log of activity, please.”

She glanced from T’Leia, to Stovik and back. “I think it’s time we get out of here ourselves. Any objections?” While she knew Stovik wasn’t technically bridge compliment, his connection to the beings had been deeper than anyone else’s. She was willing to guess that he would speak up if he felt she were erring in her decision to depart.

“Not at all, Captain.” T’Leia said though considering what she had been saying from the beginning she felt it was redundant for her to have to say it again. Stovik chimed in his agreement before adding.”I need to return to sickbay, Captain. I will be there if you need anything further from me.” Once he received the Captain’s go ahead he bowed slightly and made his way off the bridge.

Alison made her way onto the bridge to work on getting the scan, and stopped when she heard the Captain’s comment on getting out of there. What had she missed, she wondered.

Ari smiled as Alison arrived. “Ahhh.. Barr… good timing.” The CO nodded to the science station and the NE sitting there. “I just asked for a warning buoy to be set with warning for other ships to remain clear of this area and to reference Starfleet before pursuing anything in this sector. And to also send a message back to Earth with all the information and scans we have accumulated.” She sighed and glanced around at the faces either buried in their consoles executing her instructions, or looking up at her with anticipation of her next orders.

She managed to get the nerve to step back and sit in her chair. “Well, if this is how ‘today’ is… can’t wait for tomorrow.” She laughed and hoped the others were as excited, nervous and confused as she was.

“Um.... understood ma’am,” Alison said as she stepped towards the science console. She wasn’t sure why they were pulling back, but if they didn’t want to tell her, that was their choice.

At that moment the science scanners bleeped just as Barr was nearing them.

An object. Extreme long range. Somewhere in the center of the cluster of white dwarf stars.

Hearing the beeping T’Leia called out,”Report!” She had just taken her seat in her command chair and turned to look up toward the science station.

Setting the scanner down on the top of the console, Alison tapped on the shoulder of the crewman manning the station, before sliding into the newly vacated seat. She pulled up the sensor information and looked it over.

“Looks like there is an unidentified object in a cluster of white dwarf stars. It is at the edge of our range though, we would have to get closer to get a better idea of what it is Commander.”

Ari’s throat tightened up. She had to swallow twice to clear it enough to talk. “Wait… ‘another’ ship in the dwarf cluster?” She was on her feet, halfway to the view screen before she realized it. “On viewscreen. Greatest magnification.” She didn’t like the idea of another ship suddenly appearing. With Bane’s disappearance and them planning to set the other ship back in the midst of the dwarfs, the appearance of another ship made the scales a bit more tipped than she liked.
