Finally after ten long minutes a double beep sounded that the intel scanner had finished its work decrypting the root access to the comm array micro-database logs of the jet’s last mission, as well as access if properly powered further for using the comm array for listening to or speaking to military frequencies.

Baumann nodded in satisfaction and then looked up. “Now we need a power source and we should be able to listen in on what is happening.”

Atozi looked to her medical scanner pack and then back to Baumann “Will this work? I can diagnose without it” Though having the scanner was handy she could always revert back to the most basic of diagnostic tools, her eyes.

“One scanner probably won’t be enough, but if we wire several of them together,” Jonathan said as he took the offered scanner. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his own scanner and started breaking it down to get to the power cell. “Let’s see if three power cells will be enough to get a good signal. Who else is willing to give up their scanner for now?”

Naomi passed off the scanner to Baumann, letting the man take the lead. It saved her the headache as the infernal beeping came in waves. She had taken a seat, her legs folded up against her figure and comfortable. The point about technology being influenced by outside sources was the obvious choice and the most likely culprit. However, she kept her mind open to other possibilities. Even if they were less likely.

“I think mine’s pretty much surrendered.” Naomi joked at the XO’s request, her lips curled into a smirk.

“How many do we have in total? It might be a good idea to keep one scanner for emergency purposes. Especially if someone gets hurt. Internal injuries are harder to detect and considering the conflict, I say we have a possibility of getting hurt here.” She didn’t mention the fact she had a rough patch with head trauma. Nothing that would dismiss her from the program, but something to best avoid damaging more.

Kenneth held onto his scanner. “I’ll hold onto mine, I guess. Don’t want any internal injuries to cause issues, I agree.”

“Let’s start with these three,” he said taking Naomi’s scanner. He popped open the back, tucking it in his pocket, and pulled out the power cell.

Hooking the power cells in series, he popped open the engineering kit with one hand and pulled out some connector cables. It only took a few seconds to attach the power cells into the comm array.

“Hopefully this will work,” Jonathan said crossing his fingers as he hit the power switch.

Baumann watched the display and tried to manipulate frequencies to get a clear feed from any source.

Atozi having given up her scanner did another full-body examination of the pilot, much like before she whispered softly to him reassuringly as she carefully examined the injured areas and location which would show any tell tale signs of internal injury, maybe what the others didn’t know was that internal injuries weren’t impossible to find if you knew what to look for such as yellowish bruising in unexplained area, solid skin from pressure, blood being dispelled from the patient’s mouth and a few other things.

The patient was beginning to come around slowly as Atozi would finish her examination. Nothing stood out as being a problem area. AS for Baumann’s efforts to dial in the radio things on that end were slow as he kept getting static.
