[snip]Another of the men moved up to Roger, shouting as he threateningly pointed his rifle at the man. “..You heard the Corporal! Get on the ground!” He snapped in an accented English tone. Meanwhile both women whimpered in pain and were bleeding out.

Roger had been frozen in place, trying to buy some time to see what the other members of his team might do. He thought maybe the Captain would try the diplomatic approach. But alas, he seemed to be alone.
“All right, all right,” Roger said, slowly lowering himself to the ground, laying on his stomach, trying to keep his eyes open for his crew.
El tensed . They had the element of surprise. All eyes were on Roger right now she presumed and they could be taken. Her finger readied at the ‘trigger’. Why was the Captain pausing? These people needed to be dealt with. It wasn’t like there was some kind of rule that said they couldn’t do it. She heard the man bark at Roger. He would be first, then the leader. She was a moment away from acting on her own ..

Isaac was behind a table with his phaser out ready to make a move. He was Abel to hide at the last second.
Lt. Isaac Black (AC)
Lt. Sanks was still hiding behind the vehicle, and was aware of what was going on, but decided to let the rest of the team handle it, and continued working on the linguist aspect of the mission as quietly as he could.

The Captain growled. Ok, so they weren’t going to let this go. She made sure her own phaser was set to stun and glanced at El beside her. She whispered quick and clear. “Stun only… you take the one closest to us.” She made sure the woman was ready, motioned her fingers to count down… 1… 2… 3…
Her heart thumped rather faster than the countdown but even still it felt like an eternity for the captain’s fingers to count down. Checking the setting quickly El saw it was on stun. She’d have not had an issue if it was not, and she was angry enough that she may have wished it was, but confirmed that it was on stun. She felt the adrenaline and, with a quick single finger adjustment to push her glasses up her nose she darted up just far enough to rest her arm on the edge of the vehicle and fired at the closest target, which was, at this point, the one who was covering Roger.
Ari slid sideways out of cover and fired her weapon at the furthest of the two soldiers on the other side of the vehicle they were behind.

Rachel could see the captain prepare her phase pistol so she reached into her bag and raised her own weapon, set it on stun, and prepared for the crossfire. She was ready to run over and start treating the wounded alien.

If El was quick enough she would turn her fire onto another; she didn’t know if the leader was in anyone’s field of fire but, given time she would try for a second target. Knowing Isaac was there too gave them at least another good marksman; El really didn’t know if she fit into that ‘class’ but she was not going to let them shoot up anyone else.

When the phase pistol shots rang out they took the soldiers initially targeted by surprise. Dropping them unconscious. Three of the five were down and out. The remaining two snapped to cover behind some rubble nearby and opened fire in bursts in the landing party’s direction. Bullets pinged off the cars they were hiding behind. The leader of the former five was heard cursing in their alien tongue before the English was picked up. “..Must be ESM North Republic forces! Only they would have energy weapons!” she was heard saying.
El let slip a curse in Mandarin that related to boils in various unfortunate places as she had missed the leader. Energy pumped to a pile of rubble wouldn’t do much, though at a kill setting it might heat it up enough. Or they could set the weapon to overload and use it as a grenade. “Isaac, what can we do with these to get to them?” she asked in a frustrated hiss. If anyone would know he would know.
Not really able to easily fire, at least until they run out of ammo, El positioned herself behind what she thought was the engine block for better cover and pulled out her scanner. This was so going not well, she thought, and turned her attention to the area around them. A firefight was not a soundless thing and it might attract others - namely that large machine they heard earlier. This sounded like local forces. If they thought we were the enemy and radioed over. Not good .. well, they could always beam out and take the women with them and they could get care and find out what was going on if things went poorly.
- El
”..Could be civies got their hands on a supply cache?” The other was heard to say over the firefight that was breaking out. Meanwhile Roger was presumably still standing in the open while the two women were still bleeding out.

As the weapons fire rang out, Roger covered his head with his hands, staying in place as to not get accidentally hit. He looked over to the women who were on the ground near him bleeding. Scooting his body closer to the nearest woman, he whispered to her. “I can help you,” as he reached his hands to her wound and applied pressure to try and stop the bleeding.

OOC: I apologize or my absence I have been dealing with some health issues. I am back now though.
“So, the North has energy weapons and the south doesn’t. I wonder if we can use that to our advantage.” Lt. Sanks thought out loud still working on the alien language and trying to translate it to the broken English spoken by these people.
