Sooooooo.... our GM got bored and came up with a new spec for the ship. I’ll let him fill you all in on the details. It’s not something that would happen soon, if at all. Just kinda something to bounce around and hear everyone’s thoughts on pros and cons.

Again… this is NOT happening anytime soon (if at all) it’s just a bit of ‘what if’ing because he put so much time into the process. That’s all. We’ll discuss it for a couple weeks and see if we want to move forward or simply say “Well, that was a cool idea… now back to what we were doing before” lol

Thanks Meli! So to echo Meli this was something i did while bored and at the end it looked so nice i discussed it with the the CO/XO and there was some interest in looking at more. The format for the spec is a light cruiser, a slight upgrade from your frigate based spec now. Similar to but also in more detail is that its got the information laid out of equipment and technologies on the ship pre Xindi crisis and post crisis. This is useful for GMs and players depending on the year range we’re running in (since i took over we’re back in 2152/3ish if I recall right. Not matter what the Enterprise era restriction on the Bonnie can’t proceed past 2160ish as then you’re into the Founding of the Federation meaning eventually like just recently here we need to ‘reboot’. There had been a discussion in the past of editing the bonnie charter to allow further progression but then the result is we’re not a ‘enterprise era’ ship so hence the need for occasional ‘reboots/resets’. But I’m getting side tracked. As said the spec is a light cruiser, similar to the NX class in size but having more open space for the use of testing new tech, rooms, etc in one of the ship’s areas which takes up alot of the room on the ship. It has more speciality rooms for rping in then the bonaventure frigate currently, and unlike the frigate it actually has a section listing provisions for MACOs something technically the bonnie spec does not got right now have. So in short more toys more fun to be had and more flexibility on mission scopes for me/other GMS in theory.

Looking at the problem if we decided to move ahead with this three hurdles present themselves to me off hand. 1) The ship’s name is tied to the Bonaventure class so a new name would have to be picked, right now the spec I listed uses Rover-1 and Rover-2 though obviously I can easily update to a different name and naming scheme. 2) The charter needs to be updated to reflect the new spec I think which means a small discussion in command hopefully that can go through quickly. 3) Obviously the spec first of all needs to pass the EDept something which without the backing of the crew being on board with the idea.

All in all problems but not impossible to overcome by any stretch, so what do you all think?

Small update, based on some feedback instead of Rover class what do you think about it being named Luna class after the moons of the Sol system?

I love the new design as I already mentioned in private, Luna class is a much fitting name and has a kind of more exploratory feel to it.

Long story short, I love it.

Put in an Intel office and I am so down with it. ;-)

The area to the rear of the bridge has a situation room/console setup as well as the main bridge itself aux consoles for setting up such things. So you could work from there. A dedicated Intel office I think would go outside the scope of the core design profile but with some creativity you can make it work with whats there.

In my mind, with there being no official Intel Office, it provides a great excuse for what was said before. It also gives people something to write for and connect through completing a small story plot.

All right, I like the ship’s clarity and detail. Especially with the technology as I’ve always been a bit fuzzy and hesitant with the technobabble of this era. This helps with keeping everyone on the same page and that’s great for Ic stuff. I also feel the design is more streamlined without actually detaching from the feel of the verse we’re writing in.

In my mind, change is always a good thing and you can only repeat the same thing over and over for so long. We can shift to this new design and deal with all the issues that follow it, including naming and designing things to reflect the changes. With how long the approval will take in the first place, I feel that the name change and chart changes will likely be the quickest and easiest to prepare for the changes. So it won’t take long to get those finished. I also believe if we’re not feeling the changes, we can default back to Bonnie’s origins and brainstorm together over how to keep things fresh.

That’s my two cents as I really don’t know what to feel until I’ve tried something first.
