OOC: Breaking this off from the pilot check! Also a small note, we don’t got tricorders, they’re called hand scanners in Enterprise era :) Just a little roach nitpick :)

The commander might not have seen it with the low light and her face be covered but she smiled gratefully at him before shutting the tricorder and readying herself to leave with the others. The others could deal with the smoke her priority was her patient.

Setting his gear down, Jonathan pulled out his own scanner and started another scan of the area, hopefully the downed fighter wasn’t attracting too much attention yet.

So far on scans within a half a mile or so did not show any other approach of people. A few animals were picked up but nothing serious.

Baumann nodded once to the XO and then looked at his two partners. “Shall we?” and he began moving carefully towards the wreckage.

“If we can isolate the flight data recorder, if there is one, it would tell us a great deal. Or perhaps some of the crafts communication array.” he said quietly as they approached the downed jet.

Approaching the downed jet, their hand scanners would ping again showing a rise in the radiation leakage. It wasn’t too high but they probably would not want to linger here too long. They could indeed though find not just the flight recorder but also the comms array. The wreckage was mostly intact surprisingly and if they hauled it out and to a safe locale they could probably do some jury rigging to their scanners and a power pack to get a better read on it.

Baumann looked at Naomi and said “Try and isolate anything you can on the kinds of weaponry that brought this down. I will see to the flight recorder.” He then looked at NE Holstead. “Michael, please see to the comm array. We need it intact, please, so be gentle.” As the big German began combing through the wreckage after the flight recorder he kept his eyes open for any personal effects, pilot log book, or anything else of interest.
