Roger looked around in awe, despite the feeling of danger and destruction all around them. He walked around the immediate area slowly, looking at everything around, the flora in particular. He didn’t notice any fauna, but no doubt they had fled and went into hiding.

Noticing that he’d strayed a bit from the main group, Roger turned and made his way back to where they all were by the road sign. He waited for the Captain to give further orders.

What were the people doing now, El wondered. There was gunfire but why? Who was fighting who? If this was a nation versus nation battle a little town shouldn’t have fighting, not after a large scale nuclear exchange not to mention plasma weapons from space. One didn’t do that … though she didn’t know much. “Who are the combatants?” she asked. “Why is there gunfire? Are there two races on this planet and they are at war?” If they were ‘mixed’ race cities that could explain it. Her eyes cast about to Roger and the others. She was in engineering and had no real clue. It would be nice to know if she should be concerned more about bug headed creatures than people shooting at them. El was eminently unsure of other races and aliens fighting humans simply didn’t sit well with her.

After making sure everyone was safe and sound, she opened the comm to the other team to be sure they were safe as well. [O]Ari to Jonathan… everyone safe? [O] She felt odd using first names. But with not knowing who could potentially be listening, she thought it better than last names and especially ranks.

While awaiting an answer, she glanced at the others. “Everyone with readers, make sure you scan the sign in Common and matching alien sign. We will need to certainly build a written library if not a spoken one right away. And as to who is fighting and why? Of that, I’m not sure of. I’m guessing the races here are mixed if we have ground fighting when such a global scale is also being waged. Let’s do our best to steer clear of any major conflicts we see. So everyone buddy up and keep your eyes peeled. We’re going to head to the populated area and see if we can get some questions answered.” She didn’t like so many variables this close up. But there was no helping it. Now to play ‘stupid mountain folk’ and see what they could gleen from the locals.

Ari CO

[O]We all made it,[O] he paused for a second. [O]Ari.[O] That was weird, but he understood why the Captain had decided to use first names.

Lt Sanks looked at the sign in amazement. “I know right, I still want to see if we can see what alien language it is though. Make sure we aren’t just walking into some sort of trap.” Lt. Sanks responded to El as he was accessing the sign with his translator. He wanted to make sure what was written in this broken English was correct. He didn’t pay much attention to anything else.

Elizabeth made scans of the signs in pairs to be sure she could match them up at the ship. With the Captain reminding everyone to be vigilant and aware, she smiled. She’d been on enough away missions to know you left as small a footprint as you could and in First Contacts, though this was her first, she knew it had to be a nearly invisible footprint. She took as many samples and scans as she could and then moved back closer to the group to await orders to move out.

Lt Elizabeth Prescott Sec/Intel

El stepped to the side and pulled out her scanner and linked it with her glasses and checking the video feed from them. Looking around at different things she confirmed that the data stream was picking things up and recording what she saw, including things such as ambient temperature, radiation background levels, life signs, and other such things as a search for comms traffic on a lower band tech level. Satisfied that she would get pertinent information, she tapped the armature of the glasses for audio link to her communicator and scanner and slipped the tech into her inner coat pocket leaving her hands free to reach to her satchel if needed. She didn’t figure it would be needed. Security was there and more. She was curious about their tech and what was going on. Who were these people who would set aside reason and initiate a catastrophe as this? She smiled wryly under her hood. People just like us, she thought. “Ready here,” she said, more to herself as she moved over closer to Elizabeth.

Scans did not reveal much they already weren’t seeing or hearing. Some kind of rioting or small scale battle was taking place in the town ahead of them Lexi’ton as it was known beckoned but what they might find couldn’t yet be figured out. Shelter though and some kind of base house to operate from might be wise.

Rachel looked towards the town then squatted while she waited for orders. She had nothing to add to any conversation so she just waited in her odd little way.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Isaac looked over his team “are we missing any one yet” he asked joking abit. He was keeping his jacket open so he can pull the phase pistol when he needs it.

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

El was eager to find out what was going on. Sure that meant heading ‘toward’ the skirmishing ahead but it didn’t sound to be any kind of full scale rioting happening but only localized. That meant that there were a lot of people who would not be involved and who could be chatty, even if holed up in a basement. She reached into her satchel and pulled out a small binocular device and looked ‘behind’ them along the road. She was looking in particular for another road sign that noted another town or place where they could say they were from. If they were ‘country hicks’ as the Captain suggested they should have some kind of reference point when the locals here asked where they were from.

Lt. Sanks almost walked into Lt. Prescott as he was scanning the sign and hearing the captain say the need to pair up. “Lt. Prescott, what do you make of this? the translator can’t pick up the top language, but claims that the bottom is a form of English. But if we haven’t made first contact, how would they know our language? Unless a species that has met us has been here before, is that possible?” He was just brainstorming, but he was starting to think it would be a good idea for him to partner up with Lt. Prescott for this mission. “I’m working on the library as well Captain.” he responded to the orders from the Captain.
