As the observation of the satellite lifeboat prison .. thing .. was being discussed in the bay, on the bridge an observation was happening that was much different.

On the viewscreen the slim profile of Bane’s ship had hung there since its arrival.

“Sirs, look!” shouted a helm crewman as his finger pointed to the screen. “The ship!”

As they looked on, it simply began to dissolve into space like so many pixels scattering on a screen, starting with the edges of the vessel and then expanding until the ‘pixels’ hanging in space like so much smoke itself dissolved …

Alan started searching for radio waves, transmissions, any sign of the seemingly gone ship. “Not possible. That can’t happen, it’s not possible.”

Several minutes after leaving the bay, Ari arrived on the bridge to a murmur of voices chattering in disbelief. “Situation Report, Dysart,” she broke the loud whispers. “What happened?” She took her seat and waited to find out what other excitement was going to waylay her today.

“The ship. Bane’s ship. It’s gone. It disappeared. It shouldn’t have, but it did. It’s gone.” The comms officer awkwardly explained.

-Lt(j.g.) Alan Dysart, Linguist/Comms

There were no transmissions. The ship certainly didn’t look like it cloaked at all. It just dissolved in space.

Ship sensors, however, did pick up a trace of a an oddity .. verteron radiation in the area where the ship had been.

The bridge doors whooshed open as T’Leia and Stovik stepped out of the turbolift. Both looked around the bridge curiously but seeing no overt action, T’Leia made her way down to the command area while Stovik stayed up near the turbolift, out of the way.
Stopping beside the Captain, T’Leia waited to hear what was going on.

Commander T’Leia

Ari nodded to T’Leia as she moved up beside her and glanced to give a smile and nod to Stovik as she spoke. “That veteran radiation… any chance it left a trail to be followed? Even if we can just get a general direction. I doubt we could follow, but I’m sure adding the direction to our report would be helpful to anyone coming back here.”

Scans would be a little difficult to determine, however best guess off them would show that the ship had dissolved and not gone anywhere. At least the radiation didn’t travel at all.

As she waited for an answer, she glanced to her XO. “Apparently Bane’s ship disappeared as quickly as oddly as he appeared on our bridge a while ago. In a puff of smoke,” her hands went up and made a motion like smoke dissipating as her lips mouthed ‘poof’.

She didn’t like it, but they needed to drop off the alien ship in the bay, and get a message back to Earth as soon as possible. If Bane’s ship could disappear without a trace, more could show up in an equally surprising way. “I don’t like this adventure anymore. Something tells me poking my scientific nose deeper into this with get me bit on it.” She half whispered with a nervous laugh to her second in command. It wasn’t like her to admit she was in over her head. But for some reason, she was doing just that.

“Indeed, I think we are out of our league, Captain. I would postulate though that perhaps this ‘Bane’ has some sort of technology that allows them to ‘gate’ to another space or time. A mystery that may be solved in time perhaps or perhaps not. The universe is a mysterious place.”It was the first time that the Captain would have heard such an almost whimsical statement from her XO. It was one of the things that had led T’Leia to serving on starships. The chance to see the mysteries and perhaps assist in solving them.

Commander T’Leia

For a moment, anyone glancing at the XO and CO would see what appeared to be a ‘trading of places’. It was T’Leia waxing poetic and postulating about probabilities. And it was Ari who raised an eyebrow in amazement at her right hand’s comment. “Wow…” she smiled and shook her head in amusement. “Well, then. We’re agreed.” She turned to those who were on the bridge. “Science, let’s drop a bouy marker and warning to ships in the area. Brief summary that includes awaiting further instruction from Starfleet. Then send a message back to Earth with entire log of activity, please.”

She glanced from T’Leia, to Stovik and back. “I think it’s time we get out of here ourselves. Any objections?” While she knew Stovik wasn’t technically bridge compliment, his connection to the beings had been deeper than anyone else’s. She was willing to guess that he would speak up if he felt she were erring in her decision to depart.
