Baumann went to his quarters and changed into the clothes selected for the operation. The more he pondered the Captain’s orders, the more he was puzzled. Finally, he pressed the comms.

[O] Captain, if I may be so bold, I believe it would be more advantageous for me to join the team looking at the energy signature found by Lt. Prescott. Requesting permission to join that team. [O]

Ari had, herself, been second guessing some decisions. As Baumann’s voice came over the comm, she wished she was across the hall with him. [O]I had actually been thinking the same. My guess is the military may be the ones who know what’s going on. And even if there isn’t anyone there, you’ll be the best bet at ferreting out what’s going on. Permission granted. And take the transporters. A bit of radiation isn’t gonna hurt us going thru it as long as they can lock on us for beam out afterwards.[O] As she finished, she added, on a more personal level and with a bit more concern. [O] And, Wulf… be careful please… would hate to have to sleep alone, tonight.[C] She smiled and finished changing, heading out into the hall after he’d already departed.

He then packed a small nondescript brown backpack that contained a handheld scanner, a set of tools, and few odds and ends that would perhaps come in handy. A holdout phase pistol fit into his boot. He clipped a communicator to his belt and made sure a spare was in his bag. He checked himself in the mirror and then made his way to the transporter room.
