“Good morning,” Tane’s voice boomed cheerfully in the small confined space of the Science lab. Already accustomed to Tane’s large presence, both vocally and physically, the NE’s already there either ignored him or greeted him with a more reserved greeting of their own. With his trademark cheerful stride, Tane stode over to the row of controlled eco terraniums. Quickly and efficiently he took several swabs off the soil of each one and placing each selection of swabs into a petri dish.

Hopefully the swabs would contain the Phamin a type of alien free-living protoza that each eco terranium contained. Becuase of the quick generation cycle of the micro-organism he was hoping he could observe the mutation rate of the species and see if he could maniuplate it’s growth based off enviroment. It was a line of research he had read terra-formers were looking into and he was curious to see if he could manipulate the same results himself.

His first dish of swabs were all from his standard terranium, the one that mimicked the enviroment that he had gathered and breed his Phamin samples from. As he had gathered them from the outer hull of a shuttle craft, thinking they would be the best type of protoza to study given that they couldn’t survive on much given their initial enviroment. However, he had quickly run into a problem of trying to recreate their enviroment. His first two attempts, the protoza had all died before he realised that they survived off a specific type of gas released from a dying star. Once he had figured out what the Phamin survived off of he was able to separate them into different enviroments, each representing a different planetary enviroment.

=^= Computer log results under todays Stardate for Experiment Papa Papa Zero Nine =^= Tane said as he adjusted the mircoscope so he could read each swab from his first enviroment. He allowed himself some time to recognise the Phamin out of all the micro-oranisms before he recorded the results “Controlled sample results of Test S1 through to S6 all specimens are alive. Protogenza species Phamin must live off of one of the gases produced from a dying star, most likely either carbon monoxide or hydrogen cyanide.”
