“Computer begin Preflight… system status report” JT gave the order to the computer to begin the preflight checks. “Commander Janzen, can you please check sensors and defensive systems while I check propulsion and offensive systems?”

JT

BJ started looking over the senors. “You do know the defensive systems are on the same console as the offensive systems?”

OOC Strictly speaking, All systems could be checked from the same seat since the thing could be crewed by one , just tying to spread things out but Ill run with it..

IC:

JT shook his head at his gaff “Deflector systems.. I meant deflector systems. Should be right there with the sensors”

Ensign Brekag entered the shuttle bay, ready for his first away mission. He had made sure he needed everything that he would need to protect the other crew in the shuttle.

BJ smiled. “Good to know that you know how to fly this thing. Captain won’t let me.”

“Its a good design” JT said reassuringly “I’ve only crashed one once” he added wanting to see the commander’s reaction while awaiting the pre-flight report from the computer

Nice tryBJ thought. “So we’re equal in crashing. As for this craft; Try not to crash. The designer will not be happy. I know her far too well.”

“Is everyone aboard?” he asked looking back and seeing Janzen, Brekag and newly arrived NE Payne that the medical department sent.

BJ looked around. “I’m thinking so Lt. Take us out.|”

Before the shuttle could depart there was an alert during a final phase of the pre-check - there was a misalignment in the port thrust manifold, an engineer would need to repair it before liftoff or while en route. If they didn’t, sub-light maneuverability could be hampered and any atmospheric flight could be dangerous.

Brekag heard the alarm from the back of the shuttle, and was hoping that it wasn’t a serious concern. He didn’t want his first away mission to be his last.

JT saw the alert pop up “ah damn” he cursed “Commander, we have an alignment issue in our port thrust manifold, nothing too serious, but we are going to need an engineer to tag along to fix it en route or sub-light maneuvering will be tough, and atmospheric flight will be out of the question”

“Remind me to file a complain with the shuttle maintenance crew chief when we get back”

OOC: Moving this along, but any engineering officer please feel free to jump in!

IC: After the engineer boarded the Flying Angel’s outer hatch sealed up and all systems needed for launch were a go. The flight to Tyche IV would take several hours, though almost an hour could be shaved off if the ship went directly through one of the lesser ion storms instead of piloting around it. The risk to the flying angel would be minimal, but the ion storms were already expected to cause some system issues.

Danora had been in the bay looking at clearing up a few work orders to get them out of the system when the call for an engineer went up. Being the closest, she took the call and grab up an additional toolbox before boarding the shuttle. Once aboard and take off was settled, she smiled to the others on board. “Well, aren’t we a group. I’m Danora. Danora Allance. So who called for the engineer?” She glanced around aware they were heading for Tyche IV, but unaware of exactly why.

“Ask the pilot. We have an issue with something.” BJ responded. “But, we also need one for our mission. You in?”

Ensign Brekag was watching the crew on the shuttle, waiting to start the mission. He was rubbing his ears for good luck.

JT saw Brekag rubbing his ears I don’t want to know he though to himself before turning to the engineer

“Lt., glad you are here, the port thrust manifold needs some work. Without it sub-light flying will be hard and if we enter atmosphere we will probably crash and die, and I would like very much not to do that. We will be at warp for a couple hours, think you can have it fixed before we get there?”

Danora smiled. “No crashing and burning? Pity, would have made such a great story.” She laughed and nodded. “Barring anything unforeseen, I think that’s enough time. I’ll get to work on it.” She lifted the tool box and headed for the back of the shuttle to track it from the back to the front to see where the ‘disconnect’ was. Opening the access panel, she began her diagnostics to see what was happening.

BJ had been on a crashing shuttle. That was not his best piloting skills. “I’ll disagree with you. Been there; done that. Not as much fun as you think it is.”
