“Alright set up the IV therapy for all patients, Nurse check blood types and set up for continuous treatment. Doctor Naktal, treat for the concussion then hand of the patient to the nurses if nothing else comes up” He said as he continued his treatment of the burn victim.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Naktal’s scans would show that the patient was indeed suffering from internal bleeding in the abdomen, where a broken rib had punctured an artery.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

Lari’s heart quickened as she looked at the results of the scan. She took a moment to formulate a plan of action. She was still nervous but she knew her patient needed her. She turned to the nurse with a determined resolve. “Nurse, please prep the patient for surgery…” she requested as she went back over to Dr Grey.

“Dr Grey?” She asked. “My patient’s scan shows internal bleeding from a punctured artery. The nurse is prepping for surgery now, are you happy for me to proceed or would you prefer to do the surgery?” She asked cautiously.

Ensign Naktal

Jack looked back at the younger doctor and for a split second, he considered his options. He was still in the middle of treating the burn victim, that for the moment was the primary patient. No there wasn’t time for someone to take his place and for him to scrub up “No, you do the surgery, I have my hands full. Take your time and follow procedure, you’ll be fine” He said calmly turning back to his patient “Commander Jones can give you any assistance you may require.” He called back.

Dr Grey - CMO

Bump 30/03

Lari gulped and nodded. “Yes doctor,” she replied, trying to keep the fear out of her voice. She gave herself a split second then took a slow controlled breath and picked up a laser scalpel.

“Keep a close eye on his obs please nurse and let me know if you notice any change,” Lari spoke decisively to the nurse assisting her as she made he first incision in the patient’s chest near the broken rib. Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at the open wound, it was certainly much more of a rush than in a simulation. She quickly located the damaged artery and used an autosuture to repair the damage then picked up an osteogenic stimulator to fix the broken rib. “Report please nurse?” She asked.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

The nurse reported that the artery had been successfully patched together and the rib repaired. There was still some more minor damage caused by the loose rib around that area, but none of it was life threatening. Meanwhile, the burn patient started to cough violently, as puke started to force its way up her throat.

Lari passed a dermal regenerator to the nurse. “Please continue the tissue repair and let me know if there is any change in his condition,” she said as she watched the commotion with the Vulcan.

“Oh damn” Jack swore as he jumped into action. He started by turning the Vulcan to her side, the one that still had an arm, tilting her head forwards so as not to threaten her breathing and so all of the sick could leave her throat “Scan her closely, I want to know why the sudden shift” He said as he held his patient firmly.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Lari stayed by her patient but turned to face Jack. “My patient is stable doctor, do you need any assistance?” She asked, keeping one eye on her patient’s stats.

Ensign Naktal

Jack didn’t look up when he responded: “Yes, my patient is vomiting, We need to make sure she doesn’t start regurgitating her acidic stomach content and burn her innards.” He said as he continued cleaning the sick away.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Lari quickly grabbed a hypospray and loaded it with an antiemetic to try and counteract the vomiting. Instinctively she pressed the hypospray against the Vulcan’s neck and administered the dose. She paused briefly afterwards and wondered whether she should have checked with Grey first but this felt like an act now, discuss later kind of situation. Lari frantically searched her memory from the academy to see if anything else would help.

“Would a dose of Asinolyathin calm the spasm in her stomach and stop the vomiting?” she offered.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Jack gave the younger doctor an understanding nod when she applied the hypo, his way of showing understanding and giving permission after the fact “No, not spasms of the intestine, I don’t want her system to have to deal with too many drugs in her system. Let’s get her four cc’s of Kelotane for her first and second degree burns.” He looked at the arm “ANd lets prepare her for surgery, after we get the vomiting under control we can start removing some of the dead tissue. See what we can save.”

Dr. grey - CMO

Lari nodded and quickly filled the hypospray as ordered. As she administered the Kelotane she beckoned the nurse to bring a surgical tray over. The nerves she had before had been replaced with adrenaline as she began to prep the patient as best she could.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Finally, the patient stopped vomiting. However, as soon as she did so, the ship started to shake rather violently, causing some of the tools in sickbay to rattle around.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

Again Jack swore under his breath “Secure the patients to their beds” He ordered his staff before looking at Naktal “Let’s wait a moment before starting surgery, I want to know if we’re going to be doing so in the middle of a whatever is going on” He said drily.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Aye sir,” Lari nodded and quickly cast her eye around sickbay to make sure the other patients were ok. She beckoned the nurse over. “Nurse, what is the status of the human male, is he still unresponsive?”she enquired, realising that she hadn’t had time to assess him before stepping in to assist Dr Grey.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

bump

Lari rolled her eyes at the daydreaming nurse and turned back to Dr Grey. “Sir, permission to check on my other patient whilst we wait for the situation to calm down?” she asked, hoping that she hadn’t missed anything in her cursory exam of the human male.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

bump

“Yes of course” Jack said barely giving the doctor a second glance.

OOC: Sorry for the delay everyone, life kind of hit me like a runaway truck

The human male’s bio signs started to show that he was coming back to consciousness. Letting out a groan, his eyes started to flutter.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

OOC: No worries, I was away a bit longer than I thought too!

IC: Lari gently put a hand on her patient’s shoulder. “Easy now, just take it slowly…” she said softly as she grabbed a tricorder to check for any additional injuries. “Can you remember what happened?” she asked as she began to scan him.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Jack continued to treat the burn victim, it wouldn’t be long until they’d start removing the dead tissue and start repairing the dermal tissue underneath the burns.

Dr. Grey - CMO

The patient coughed a few more times before croaking out. “It seemed like a normal mission, I was in engineering when the bridge reported sighting of a planet out of nowhere. We tried to get in for a closer look when a beam tore right through our hull.”

Ensign Smith (NE)

Lari nodded sympathetically as she ran some more in depth scans to check for any hidden injuries. “That must have been very frightening but you’re safe now…” she replied as she put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “Are you in any pain?” she added.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Jack moved to the side, ordering a nurse to monitor his patient. He moved to the scrub laser and started prepping for surgery. Another Nurse assisted him in putting his surgical gown on. Generally not a neccecity during emergency evens such as this but with the amount of tissue they were going to need to remove he thought better safe than sorry.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Trying to get up, the man shook his head. “No, no pain, but we aren’t safe.” His entire body was trembling. “They will come back, I know they will. We have to get out of here!” By this point, the patient’s vital signs started to elevate to dangerous levels.
