“I’m thinking that we have 14 science labs on this ship,” Wendell said. “But what we don’t have, is a dedicated xenobiology lab. Get with someone from medical that’s into the field to find a suitable work space. I’ve only got three of the six general science labs in use. So we can use one of the other three if we need to.”

“I’ll get on it right away, sir. ” Fil said. “If there is there anything else I can do, I’ll be at the medical section?”
Ens. Fil then left to go directly to the medical section to speak to a medical officer and help him to create a Xenobiology lab from Science Lab number 4.

After a long time passed, Penji Fil reported to the CSO that the Xeno-biology lab was ready for inspection.

Everything was up to par with the new Xeno-biology lab, but the CSO still had to inspect it and approve it. Penji had no doubt that his lab would be a efficiently run lab.

Ens. Fil was glad that the lab was up and running. Now all he had to do was work with others to find someone to help run it. “I’ll speak to the CSO to get the personnel to help me.” Fil said.

Ooc: I think that you need to wait for other people to reply to. That way, we can get into the story. You can role play getting a lab set up with other people.

It would take the work of science, medical, and engineering to get the work done. And it would need to be approved thru the department heads and the xo and co. Someone else might actually not want a dedicated alien biology lab for some reason.

OCC: As an ensign I don’t have the authority to ask others to help with the lab. I don’t know what to do. If I use my own decision I’m wrong, but if I keep it open to let others suggest things, I’m still wrong. Please let me know what am I supposed to do.

You can always ask others for help with things. This excercise is basically to role play. This is also a side sim. It takes place away from the main sim, say, a few days earlier.

The difference between a side sim and a main sim is that the gm isn’t required to do things in the side sim. People get to interact with each other. And they can control the predictable results of their own actions within reason.

For example. I can go to the lounge and order food. Not whip out my phaser and start blasting my shipmates because I had a bad day.

So you can actually role play getting a dedicated biolab set up within reason given that you’re an ensign. If you start a new thread in the sickbay, you should find people who may want to help.

There is also the possibility that we won’t get a new lab, but might have to convert an old, unused lab. Or, we might not get any biolab at all! We aren’t on a science ship.
