IC: Rado woke in a cold sweat, having had a bad dream. It was a reoccurring one, where he would see his dead parents repeating how he could have somehow saved them from the Cardassians. Therapists from the Academy and the Memorial have told him that there wasn’t anything he could have done, but those dreams still persisted. It was kind of weird that Gainn’s sister Xamis never appeared the dream, despite she was killed alongside with their parents.

After a few moments spent reminiscing, Rado heard a beep from his PADD, indicating a message had been sent. Sighing, he picked it up and read it. Interestingly, it was in Bajoran.

Gainn, this is Xamis, your sister. I am alive. I recently escaped my Cardassian captors, but they are likely to catch up. I’m near Onereth. Please come help us.

Rado stared at the message. Was Xamis alive? Rado couldn’t bring himself to look closely at her supposed body all those years ago? But what if she was dead and this was a cruel prank or scam? Rado’s fallen for more Ferengi prince scams than he’s comfortable admitting. So against his better judgement, he replied to the message, ‘How can I know this is you?’

Rado soon received a response. It read,

You want proof? Fine. You were too scared as a kid to get your ear pierced to receive your earring. You used to play the Tivara in your sleep. People back home used to call you ‘Weird Space Boy’. You wrote an unofficial sequel to The Farmer Rebel because you hated how the original left too many unanswered questions. Satisfied?

Rado couldn’t stop himself from shouting, “SHE’S ALIVE!” and waking up T’Han.

T’Han looked at him and slowly exhaled. “Who is alive, Gainn?” She asked stoically.

“M-my sister Xamis!” Rado stuttered, handing T’Han the PADD.

“Have you not told me that your sister was executed by the Cardassians alongside your parents?” T’Han asked, a brow raised as she took the PADD from him.

“I thought that too, but whoever sent that message knew about my…unofficial Farmer Rebel and, uh, that went down in a fire.” Rado explained.

“Did you not see your sister’s cadaver?” T’Han asked.

“Um, uh, no, I didn’t close look, with the Cardassians not letting me bury them and the grief and all.” Rado answered.

T’Han inspected the message before saying, “This message appears to be genuine. It would be logical to speak with Captain Nightroad about this.”

“Um, will do.”
