“Why have so many of the ships in Starfleet got names associated with Human culture and history?” Taniel mused.

He was en route to his next assignment; the USS Memorial, a ship of her very own class, a battle cruiser, and he was very excited at the prospect. The last few years had been on a medical vessel that had spent most of its time jumping from colony to colony, giving specialised medical aid where needed … not that that was not exciting … but there was something about being on a vessel designed to be in the thick of the fighting that made one’s pulse race.

The Andorian pilot who was his only companion on the shuttle was not inclined to chattiness, and simply shrugged at his question.

Taniel was undeterred, speaking more to himself. “Well, it should be more fun than skinned knees and sore throats.”

Stepping through the doors of the Sickbay on deck 7, he looked around with an easy grin, trying to catch someone’s attention, though his eyes did linger on an attractive nurse who walked by, a twinkle in his dark eyes.

“Do any of you lovely people know where a tired doctor might find the Chief Medical Officer?” He asked.
