Cain thought for a moment and said, “No, the Excalibur said they were responding to Memorial’s distress call.” Cain wanted to know where they were in space and said, “Mr. Tolly, confirm our location.” Looking at tactical he stated, have the shields ready to go up but for now remain at green.”The pieces were starting to fall into a pattern and he thought of everything he knew so far. The former Captain said we were not in our native galaxy and left with the former XO and Security Chief, the cube that science is trying to figure out had a different quantum signature then the Ship and crew, and there was a blurry ship calling itself the Federation Ship Excalibur responding to the distress call from the Memorial.
After a moment it all came together and Cain turned to tactical and proclaimed, “Shields Up, Yellow Aler!”
Nightroad, CO
Makoto was at the Engineering station on the bridge she ran a quick Diagnostic on the shields just to be on the safe side as they were going up she would run through all the other systems to as they waited wondering what was going on

Chief Engineer-USS MemorialFrom the console he was sitting at, Saxon confirmed, Yellow alert, shields up, Captain.”
The tactical HUD indicated that six Cutlass-class fighters had successfully launched and were en route to intercept.
Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air GroupThe location was the same as it had been since the encounter with the cylindrical ship. However, hadn’t Boyd said something about starbases being different? Beacons from Federation starbases, outputs and sensors showed that Federation space wasn’t the same as it had been.
GM
IC:
Cain heard the Ensign acknowledge that they were where they were supposed to be but everything seemed different outside the ship. Jumping up from his seat, Cain looked at the bridge crew and said, “From what the previous Captain had said in his holo-message, Ensign Boyd’s discovery of some Starbases being in the same place and others being in different, and the Excalibur coming towards the Memorial’s distress call that we did not send our ship from our universe was transposed with the Memorial from this universe.” After a moment he said, “This is the reason for my yellow alert and shields, even though they said they were the Federation, we don’t know what the ship coming towards us will be like. Better safe then sorry in my opinion.”Looking at Ensign Boyd, Cain asked, “Time till that ship intercepts us now?”
Nightroad, CO
John took a step back and stood with his hands behind his back in the at ease position allowing the young ensign to take the lead, he had after all been the one to notice the Excalibur
Lt. Commander John Tolly
Chief of Operations“Twenty minutes,” replied Boyd, as he tried to clear up the static that was clouding both the communications channel and the view screen. It was almost as if the local space had been distorted recently.
Saxon started to work on clearing up the image of the Excalibur. He hoped he was wrong, but had a hunch that when the image was cleared, he would see ISS Excalibur across the hull.
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS MemorialBoyd had success with the comms, as the voice of the Excalibur’s CO broke through.
=^= Excalibur to Memorial. Nightroad, it’s Goodspeed, =^= said the voice, almost familiarly. =^= We picked up your distress call. =^=
Boyd thought a moment. “Sir, it’s possible that the Excalibur is suffering the same issues we’re having, and not able to fully identify us.”
GM
Cain listened to the voice that came over the channel and knew it well, but was this the same Captain Goodspeed that he knew. Cain also wondered how Captain Goodspeed knew he was the Captain of the ship. Many things were still not adding up. After a moment, Cain responded, =^=Goodspeed this is Nightroad, good to hear a familiar voice out here in the expanse of space. =^=
Cain sat back down in his chair and wondered what would happen next in this crazy nightmare.
Nightroad, CO
Makoto began to attempt to Reroute power as best she could maybe she could boost the sensors so that they could get a better read on the incoming ship
Makoto Nishizumi
(She/Her)
Chief Engineer-USS MemorialAcross the comm system, Wes stated, =^=Ensign Averson to LT Nishizumi, I am sending you the equation that was deciphered from this cube thing in the Science Labs. It’s supposed to tune out sensors to this universe quantum signature.=^=
Averson, Engineering
The comm beeped to indicate a message on the dedicated air wing channel. =/\=”Memorial, Firefly. It’s somewhat turbulent out here, can you determine the reason?” =/\=
Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air GroupBoyd looked at the scanners. =^= There seems to be some form of quantum flux in the area. =^= He paused for a moment. =^= If we are running on the assumption that we have appeared in another, parallel universe, then it would stand to reason that any means of crossing universes would have left a highly localised distortion of the space-time continuum. =^= he said.
GM
=/\=”Understood. Be aware that fighter reaction performance may be restricted by this distortion.”=/\=
“Commander Tolly” Cain said, “What is your perspective of what is happening with all the info we have.” Cain needed a fresh approach to the situation and hopefully his second officer could give him that nudge.
Nightroad, CO
Tolly paused for a moment, contemplating all that had transpired. “We must assume that we are no longer in our own universe,” he stated. “Additionally, until we can obtain verification to the contrary, we must also assume that the Excalibur is not from our universe. We should remain on yellow alert until we can fully verify the origin of the ship and determine whether it poses a threat.” Tolly added, “I believe that cube is the key to everything.””
Lt. Commander John Tolly
Chief of Operations“I believe you are correct, Mr. Tolly.” Cain responded. “Have the Chief Science Officer give us an update on his team’s findings.” They had little time left to figure things out before the Excalibur would arrive.
Nightroad, CO
The comms crackled again. =^= Nightroad, can you confirm your situation? Were you able to investigate the Clinkers? =^= asked Goodspeed.
GM
Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air Group“Thank you Mr. Averson” she said as she began to retune the sensors with the information sent
Makoto Nishizumi
(She/Her)
Chief Engineer-USS MemorialCain thought about what Goodspeed had just said. He looked at Mr. Tolly and gave him the mute transmission sign then said, “A slang word for Klingons is Clinkers. I wonder if that is what they call them here.” Cain was puzzled, there was not much time left before the rendezvous with the Excalibur.
Too many unknowns were popping up. Cain needed an update from the group working on the cube. With that he tapped his badge and said =^=Nightroad to Science Lab 1, what is your status on that cube?=^=
Nightroad, CO
OOC: Ha! I have never heard Klingons referred to as “clinkers”!
IC: Boyd looked up from his console. “Could it be a reference to some form of robot?” He asked.
GM
OOC: Klingons wew named after Wilbur Lee Clingan so Clingan turned into Clinkers which is fan based not Cannon.
IC: Cain puzzled with Mr. Boyd’s comment about robots and stated, “Robots would fit the Clinkers as metal parts would clink but what was the other Memorial dealing with before we shifted universes.”
Nightroad, CO
Across the communication channel, a voice was heard, =^=Averson to bridge. I have identified the variable in the equation. We should be able to use scanners now.=^= Wes said.
Averson, Engineer
Tolly turned to Captain Nightroad and said, “We should conduct a comprehensive sensor scan of the Excalibur. If they are from an alternate universe, the quantum signature will confirm it.”
Lt. Commander John Tolly
Chief of Operations
=/\= “Memorial, is the flux able to be detected and isolated by the cutlasses’ sensors?” =/\= Firefly asked over the comms, as the fighters continued to race towards an intercept point.Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air Group“Wait,” interjected the CIO, “Frax called the beings on the ship we were attacked by Droidlings. Could that be what he means by ‘clinkers’?
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS MemorialOOC: Okay, lots to unpack here.
Saxon is spot on! The alternate Memorial was investigating things referred to as the clinkers… which is the alt universe’s name for them.
The cube and associated equation won’t have any bearing on the sensors. The sensors are wonky because space in this area is wonky from some ‘event’.
The cube’s runes have provided you with a way of translating a quantum signature into a frequency, and also refers to “setting a course”. Remember the cube did some weird stuff when energy was being pumped into it. So it’s more than just a cube with a poem. What does the cube do?
GM
Cain looked at at Saxon and said, “You’re right, I forgot that part of the former Captain’s holo-message.” Cain then asked, “Can we identify the boarder of this wonky area and try to move out of it?” and waited for his bridge teams reply.
Nightroad, CO
“Yes sir,” replied Boyd. “It should be safe to move under impulse power. It will take approximately 2 hours to clear it,” he paused, looking at his scans. “I suspect that the Excalibur will have the same problems as we do with the area, and will need to drop out of warp about 30 minutes out under impulse power. That might give us the time we need to understand the situation some more.”
GM
From the bridge station he was sitting at, Saxon had an idea he wanted to try. Seeing as they were in a different dimension/universe and there was a duplicate of the crew on this version of the Memorial, it stood to reason that his security clearance and codes were the same.
He entered his codes . . . .and waited for clearance.
His plan was to hack into the Excalibur’s database and find out anything about this dimension. He’d start by finding any information on the ‘clinkers’.
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS MemorialWhilst we wasn’t able to gain access to the Excalibur (after all, even in the Prime universe, security codes were different ship-to-ship) he was able to use them to log into the Starfleet databanks. Unfortunately, however, the information on the ‘clinkers’ was hard to get to, locked away under a higher classification - apparently whatever was being investigated was being kept most secret, even within this universe.
What Saxon was able to determine was that a ‘clinker’ was some form of robotic creature, first encountered by the Federation in this universe a couple of years ago. Reports of their appearance fluctuated between arachnid whilst in motion, but looking more like meerkats when pausing and looking around. They seemed to be made of small metal scales that moved around a central ‘core’; presumably some form of processor and memory unit. These scales, whilst somehow lubricated to avoid squeaking, did make the creatures ‘clink’ when changing form.
GM
Saxon put a picture of the clinkers on an inlay of the main view screen. “Captain, I’ve got some information on the little devils. This what they look like when in motion and at rest.”
He then went on to describe the rest of the info he had discovered (see above paragraph).
Firefly’s voice cut back in over the comm, a bit more worn and distorted than last time. =/\= “Memorial, Firefly. Something just hit us and took Flux. What can you tell me?” =/\=
Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air GroupCain heard the communication and looked over to the sensor station and waited for the answer. If one of the ships had disappeared and we cannot figure out the reason he would bring them in.
After a moment, Cain tapped his badge and said, =^=Nightroad to Ravenfall, need you on the bridge=^=
Nightroad, CO
=/\= On my way=/\= she said as she left the science department and made her way to the bridge.
A few moments later the turbo lift doors opened and Viktoria stepped onto the bridge. As I approach the my chair I flex my hand.
Ravenfall, XO
The sensor replay showed a momentary fluctuation in the space-time continuum, which had intercepted with the fighter, causing it to disappear. There was, however, no debris.
GM
As he watched the replay, the CIO spoke up. “Cmdr. Ravenfall, had you gotten any activity from the cube with your experiments?”
OOC: I’m assuming you will explain what was going on in the science lab.
=^=Computer, compare the time differential between when Cmdr. Ravenfall activated the cube and the space/time fluctuation occurred.=^=
=^= The cube was not activate at the moment of space-time fluctuation. The source of the space-time fluctuations is a tear in the space-time continuum that was generated approximately 2 hours ago. =^=
OOC: Two hours ago was when the Memorial first switched between universes.
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS MemorialViktoria listened closely “2 hours ago that’s about how long it’s been since we arrived” I said to Cain.
At the same time, the communications channel opened up. =^= Excalibur to Memorial. We’re picking up a disruption in the space time continuum, similar to what we observed in Sector 204. Have you come into contact with the enemy? =^=
GM
=/\= “Memorial, Firefly. I need Lt. Arkis to be beamed back aboard immediately, by shuttle if we’re outside Memorial’s range. He’s alive but unconscious.” =/\=
Lieutenant Colonel John “Firefly” Arlen
Commander, Air GroupCain heard the plea an hit his badge, <^>Nightroad to transporter room, lock on and beam Lieutenant Arkis directly to Sickbay!<^> After a moment, Cain said to John, <^>Colonel Arlen, is it safe out there or does your flight need to land.<^> and waited for the response
Nightroad, CO
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS Memorial=^= Energising! =^= shouted the transporter room. A few seconds later, the fighter exploded.
GM
Viktoria Ravenfall, XO
=/\= “Memorial, please confirm. Did you beam back Flux safely?” =/\= Firefly asked, voice taut.
Cain needed information, Frax the Ferengi, Lieutenant Arkis disappearing then coming back damaged and seriously hurt and the Excalibur bearing down on us and the cube which looks to be at the center of all this. Cain looked around the bridge and said, “Mr. Tolly, I need statuses from all departments on the information they have gathered so far.” and sat back in his chair.
Nightroad, CO
Tolly nodded as he began contacting the various departments aboard the ship. “Aye, Captain,” he said, pausing for a moment as a thought occurred to him. “Sir, this may be unconventional, but I might have an idea.” He turned toward his console. “Computer, is there a Vulcan on the ship?” Turning back to Captain Nightroad, he continued, “Captain, on Stardate 3196, the USS Enterprise encountered a silicon-based life form that had been killing miners on Janus VI. Contact was eventually established when Commander Spock performed a mind meld with the being, now known as the Horta.” Offering a slight shrug, he added, “Perhaps we are approaching the mystery of the cube from the wrong angle. As I said, it’s an unconventional idea, but it might be worth considering.”
LtCmdr John Tolly
Chief of Operation/Second OfficerSol’lin was altogether undisturbed by being transported into another universe or encountering these strange spacial phenomena. It was part of the mission, as far as he was concerned. So when his schedule read that he was to report for a shift at the Ops station on the bridge, that is exactly what he did. And he had already been on his way before the yellow alert issue was ordered.
Shortly after Tolly’s statement, the lift opened to reveal the young Vulcan officer. Who, without a word, exited the lift and quietly relieved the current officer stationed there.
|Ens. Sol’lin, Communication Officer|
=^= Confirmed, the pilot was beamed aboard before the explosion. They are currently being treated in Sickbay.=^=
“Captain, I’m heading to sickbay to see if Lt. Arkis can give us any info as to where he went.”
With the CO’s permission, Saxon made his way to the turbo. He wanted to get to Sickbay before the pilot passed out or was put under.
Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS Memorial|Ens. Sol’lin, Communication Officer|
“Permission Granted,” Cain replied back. From the sensor logs of what happened, Lieutenant Arkis’ ship seemed to disappear then reappear with damage. Cain wondered if maybe Lieutenant Arkis had moved from t his universe to another and back again but if so, was their a battle going on with in that universe right now. Cain needed answers and looked to the turbolift and said, “Mr. McCleary, I need to know what Lieutenant Arkis saw over there as it might help us understand what is going on.”
Nightroad, CO
Cain tapped his comm badge and said, =^=Nightroad to transporter room, lock onto all the debris from the fighter, no matter how small, and beam it to the shuttle bay. I don’t want to leave any trace of our quantum signature here when we leave.=^=
Nightroad, CO
