Things had been busy with the new personnel coming aboard mid-mission, as well as the ongoing investigation as to what was going on with this strange mission.

The CIO had suggested on the bridge earlier that perhaps, had been transported else where or when, at the time of the Droidlings attack. The previous command staff had seemed to ignore his suggestion at that time. Perhaps the new team were more open. As of yet, no further information was gained from the cube of Frax and he was frustrated.

To get his head straight and focused, Saxon decided to get to know the new crew. His Intel clearance gave him high access to most everybody’s file. After all, it was his job to knoweverything he could about the new command team and crew.

The first file he pulled was that of the new XO, Commander Viktoryia Ravenfall.

As he opened the file, he sighed deeply at the numerous redactions. This only led to further increase his frustration. He read through the file as much as he could before finally giving up.

If he wanted answers, he was going to have to dig deeper and frankly didn’t have the time for that. May as well go straight to the source. . . .

“Understood!” I knew this was bound to happen I hadn’t had a position onboard a ship where I wasn’t “cornered for questioning” my file leaves more questions then it gives answers.

Ravenfall, XO

Ten minutes later, the chime rang outside the XO’s office.

After being told to enter, Saxon approached her desk with his right hand extended.

“Cmdr. Ravenfall, I’m Lt. Cmdr. McCleary. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me.”

“I’m going straight to the point. This is NOT an inquisition, commander. As Intel Chief, I feel it’s my duty to get to know the command staff, learn their command styles, and strengths AND weaknesses, so that I can serve you both to the best of my skills.”

“I’ve gone over your file. What I was able to read is quite impressive. Unfortunately, there is much in there that has been redacted. Now, my security clearance is high enough that I can do some searching and found out what is blacked out, but that would take some time. I’m hoping that you are willing to save me some time and tell me exactly what is in there.”

“If there is something in there that I feel can cause problems for the ship, captain, and crew, I will notify the Captain Nightroad. On the other hand, just like a doctor, I will keep whatever you tell me confidential. On that, you have my word.”

“Please be seated!” I said as I gestured to the chair opposite of mine. “Those redacted parts of my file is more for my protection from the outside world then my crew! I will gladly explain everything.”

The CIO took the offered seat and made himself comfortable. “I’m glad to hear that, Commander. That should make this much easier. Any particular part you’d like to start with? Personally, I’d like to hear more about your mutation. . . .Sanguisuge?”

“I’ll start at the beginning!” She said as she took a sip from the mug she held in her hand.

“Seems to be the logical place to start,” Saxon replied with a grin.

“Can I get you anything before we begin?”

“No, thank you, commander.. I’m just looking to understand this. . . .disease? Is that the correct term for it?

“It’s actually a genetic mutation.” She said as she grabbed a coffee from the replicator, and sat back down. “As far back as I can remember it has been a part of who I am.”

“My first memories are of me in the holodeck battling Klingons with the safeties off” I paused for a moment as the memories filtered through her mind “and winning”

She sighed deeply as she remembered her final day on the science vessel. “I was only 10.”
