Once he had programed a typical Ferengi home and hid the projector that would show Frax’s ‘moogie’ underneath a cushion, Rado sat down and thought about his recent promotion. Chief of Security. Was he even ready for such a responsibility? How would he handle it? What did the new captain even see in him? Did Nightroad read the essay he had written at the academy? He prayed to the Prophets for some answers yet felt nothing. His crisis of faith was interrupted by the holodeck doors opening up.

Dr. Royce administered a mild stimulant to her Ferengi patient, Frax. After a delay of about 15 seconds he started to come around. He kept mumbling, but the only thing she could make out was “Moogie”, whom she assumed was his mother or grandmother. He was not fully awake and aware of his surroundings, both for his own protection until she determined the source of his hypertension and also he would be more likely to talk freely. Speaking softly to him “Frax, Im going to take you home, would you like to see your Moogie?” He mumble something in Ferengi, but judging from his bio signs he wanted to go. She helped him up and supported and guided him out of sickbay and to the holodeck.
Holodeck
As the holodeck doors swished open, Frax took in his surroundings and again began mumbling, excitedly obviously pleasantly surprised. She saw Rado Gainn in the corner, but she wasn’t certain he was visible to Frax. She shot Gainn a questioning look.Ens. Isabelle Royce, Doctor
Upon noticing the arrival of Ensign Royce and their Ferengi friend, Rado activated the ‘moogie’ projector from his new PADD and readied the potential responses. Once he had that arranged, he hurriedly gestured for Ensign Royce to join him in the corner.

Chief of SecurityFrax looked around as he entered the holodeck, slightly discombobulated. As he looked around, he wondered whether the whole affair had been a dream, and that he had woken back up on Ferenginar.
“Moogie?” he asked, quietly, into the darkness.
OOC: Just a gentle reminder that you should let other role players act out their characters, including NEs, unless they have said otherwise. Frax is one of the Non-Player Characters that I have been using as part of the plot line.
GM
Rado pressed a button on his PADD, turning on the projection of Frax’s Moogie.
OOC: My sincerest apologies. I didn’t realize that I was doing that. My bad.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityDr. Royce saw Rado in the corner and as soon as she was satisfied Frax would be stable, she went over and stood next to him. She adjusted the settings on her PADD to be able to monitor Frax from a distance. She then spoke to Rado in a whisper, “have you enabled a force field so that Frax cannot see or hear us? And just for your information, with the medications on board Frax, he probably won’t remember this.”.
Dr. Isabelle Royce, Ens
<tag> Rado Gainn, Frax“Well, I suppose that, uh, makes things easier.” Rado said quietly. “As for the force field, I, uh, made one. But’s a little…uh…” He paused, looking for the right word. What words can adequately describe a holodeck force field that looks like it was constructed by a six-year-old with shaky hands?
He settled on a close enough word. “It’s, uh, a little rudimentary.”
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security“Moooooogieeeee?” Frax slurred, clearly still groggy.
GM
Realizing he should get the projection up and running, Rado activated the force field around him and Royce. Once the force field covered them, Rado pressed buttons to that would make the projection responses to Frax fairly automatic.
“Hello, Frax,” The projection said, “How are you, my child?”
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security“Mooogiiiieeeeeee!” an excited Frax exclaimed, before he trotted over to the hologram at a quick pace. “Such a bad dream!” he said, before breaking down into tears. “There were these small robots, that attacked the ship we were salvaging. Then the Federation appeared, and tortured me; those evil hewmons.
GM
Rado was torn. On one hand, they hadn’t actually tortured Frax, but by the looks of it, Lt. Cmdr. McClearly was about to. But on the other hand, he knew he shouldn’t defend what happened. He especially knew he shouldn’t defend it via Frax’s “Moogie”.
Also, he was a Bajoran, not human. Were…were his nose ridges not prominent enough?
“I am so sorry that,” The projection responded, “But you are safe now. Just relax. They won’t hurt you anymore.”
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityRoyce continued to monitor Frax, noting a slight, but expected rise in blood pressure when he began to cry. Noticing Rado’s expression of self doubt, she spoke quietly to him, “He’s stable and doing well, but it would be a good idea to keep it as direct and brief as possible. Trust me you will be the first to know if he shows signs of too much stress.”.
Ens. Royce, DoctorRado nodded, deciding not to clarify that he was concerned with the prominence of his ridges. Keeping this short was for the best. He pressed some buttons to speed along the process.
“Frax, it might be within your best interest if you just cooperate with them,” The projection said tenderly, “I know they have done awful things to you, but if you comply, they may let you go.”
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityFrax blinked at the hologram, an expression of confusion etched across his face. “Why would I need to cooperate with them, Moogie?” he asked, inquisitively. “I escaped! That’s how I got here, along with some of the salvage items in my bag,” he continued, “I hope they get us a few bars of gold-pressed latinum!”
GM
Rado wasn’t sure how to would end. He looked at Ensign Royce. “Should we, uh, end this, Ensign?” He asked.
Meanwhile, the projection said, “But, Frax, remember, you’re still on their ship. And you cannot get any latinum while inside a brig.”

Chief of SecurityOOC: cough salvage items in the bag
GM
The projection added, “What salvage items?”
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityFrax seemed to not want to hear that he was still on the ship, and instead focused on the last question. “Our salvage, from the droidlings,” he said, with a smile. “Very curious, they are. They don’t have the same quantum signature as our universe, so they ought to fetch us something.”
GM
Rado was confused. Did Frax just say that he had objects from an alternate reality? How was this even possible?
“And what are they, my child?” The projection asked, its interest piqued.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityRoyce continued monitoring Frax, he was beginning to show signs of fatigue. Just as she was ready to let Gainn know, the yellow alert klaxon went off. “We’d best end this, he’s getting fatigued and I need to get back to Sickbay.” she informed Gainn, as she readied a hypospray to administer to Frax.
Dr Royce, Ensign
Frax smiled at the holographic moogie. “They’re metal slips, made from a material we’ve never seen before. Probably an expensive currency!” He exclaimed, naively.
GM
“Can I see them?” The projection asked.
Rado raised his hand, indicating that he wanted the projection’s question answered before Royce sprayed the Ferengi.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityFrax pulled some out of his pocket. They looked almost like large fish scales, but were solid metal, glistening in the light of the holodeck.
GM
Rado squinted at the objects that laid in Frax’s orange-brown palm. “Do, uh, those look familiar to you, uh, Ensign?” He whispered to Royce.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityRoyce gave the objects a scrutinized gaze as she adjusted her scanner, after a brief pause she replied, “ I personally do not recognize them, the scanner results would suggest they are a bionic type of device, somewhat similar a bionic prosthetic device, you know like an arm or leg, they are sending out a very discreet signal scanning for another device. What’s really disturbing is another device is answering although there is too much disruption to complete the “handshake” needed to connect. The one thing I can be sure of is that whatever it’s trying to connect with is definitely on this ship. It’s mechanical, but with a near biological intelligence. Maybe we should ask Frax what it is or what it does and if he has anything else?“.
Dr. Isabelle Royce, Ens.Rado pressed the button on his PADD.
“Can you tell me what this is, my child?” The projection asked.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityOOC: Judy, please be careful about how much you assume about sim related artefacts. I’ll let you have the fact that they are editing a discreet signal, but there is not another device on board.
IC: “I don’t know,” said Frax, with a slight goofy grin. “There were loads of them on the ship; the ship the Federation found us on. They look very similar to the cube we found,” his face suddenly fell. “I don’t think I’ll ever see the precious cube again,” he continued, shedding a tear.
GM
“Oh, Frax,” The projection said in a voice brimming with compassion, “There will always be other acquisitions to be had. For you are a Ferengi.”
“Go ahead and give him the hypospray.” Rado said, not seeing how much farther they could get.
