As Dev’Res materialized in sickbay, he lifted the Ferangi onto a biobed, The security field raised around them as he called out to the Medical staff. “Doc! We need help here!”

He stepped back to allow the medical personal access to Frax. He signed slightly and tapped his Commbadge again. =/\= Commander McCleary and Commander Turner, please come down to Sickbay 1. Thank you=/\=

As he had his fingers through his hair, he shook his head slightly. =/\=Dev’Res to the Captain, just wanted to inform you that I have relocated our Ferangi visitor to sickbay, I will ahve a report to you as soon as we know anything. =/\=

Cain heard the call and responded to the Counselor with, =/\=Understood, I will be down in Sickbay in a few minutes. =/\= Cain wasn’t sure what was happening and had planned to head to the brig to see what was happening with the Ferengi that came with the still mysterious cube that the Science Department was investigating. He needed answers and sitting in his ready room was not getting them.

Cain popped up and headed out of his ready room.

Saxon arrived in Sickbay and saw Frax lying on the table. Confused, he asked, “What happened? He was fine when I left for the briefing.”

Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS Memorial

“I’m not sure Commander, I arrived in the brig and he was already collapsed.” He paused for a moment and stepped forward. “I’m Dev’Res, the new Counsellor, I don’t believe we have met.”

Silva muttered something under his breath as he approached, a glove snapping on his hands as he walked to the head of the bed. “Counsellor, are you a Psychiatrist, or a Psychologist?” he asked in a very serious tone as his fingers flew across the buttons on the biobed.

Dev’Res stepped back to give Dr Silva room. “Psychologist Doctor. I’ll leave the meds full in your capable hands.”

After a moment he looks up over his glasses at the various department heads crowding his sick bay. Turning to his side he muttered to NE Ratchett and ordered, “Nurse, get a CBC, Chem 17, a dip, and type and cross please. Let’s find out what we are dealing with.”

He turned back to Dev’Res and Saxon, very much using his disappointed dad voice already, “You assured me he was fine, Commander McCleary. An LOC does not just happen out of thin air. I need to know what the last things he ingested were and if he suffered any blunt force trauma to the body or head.”

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

The Andorian raised his eyebrows as he looked toward the Commander. He was also curious of the response.

Dev’Res - CNS

Cain walked through the door to Sick Bay 1 with the XO. He looked over at the group surrounding one of the Bio beds and asked, “What is going on here? As he waited for a response he noticed that the Ferengi on the bed was unconscious with blood trickling from his lobe.

OOC: Ear ;-)

“Doc, he WAS fine when I left for the briefing,” Saxon replied. “I was in the process of interrogating him. He wouldn’t talk, so I let him think it was going to be bad if he didn’t.”

“Captain,” Silva answered with a firm nod. “Patient was found unresponsive in his cell. Was transported to sickbay by the Dev’Res and Commander McCleary,” he reported with brisk medical efficiency. “My assistant is working up vitals now while we wait to see what is the cause of this loss of consciousness.”

“What a minute. That’s incorrect. I did NOT have any part in transporting him here. He was still in the brig when I left,” the CIO interjected.

He pushed his glasses up slightly, though they still hung low on his nose, giving the look of an annoyed father. “I’ll be with my patient,” he curtly added before turning back to the biobed and nurse.

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

Rado entered the sickbay. He felt responsible for this. “Is he, uh, alright, doctor?” He asked with a concerned tone.

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

The scans showed that the Ferengi had suffered a burst ear drum, no doubt caused by a significant increase in blood pressure due to stress. Whilst painful for humans, the pain for the poor Ferengi was unbearable, and he had passed out.

GM

Cain acknowledged Dr. Silva and said, “Let me know the moment he wakes up Doctor. Hopefully he can answer some questions we have.” After a second he finished with, “The XO and I will be on the bridge.” Cain walked towards the door, looked back and said, “Dr. Dev’Ris, please join us.”

Nightroad, CO

Silva looked up from over the top of his glasses. “Of course, captain,” he said dryly before looking back down again. After a few more moments when the computer acknowledge completion of the scan, he read the results and reported back, “It looks like increased blood pressure from the stress ruptured his ear drum. He’ll live.”

He tapped a few buttons, “He passed out from the pain. He’ll live but will have some difficulty hearing until we can get that drum repaired and will likely be unbearably cranky.”

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

Since when did they get a new captain and first officer? And what happened to the old Chief Medical Officer? Prophets, Rado should really pay more attention. Shoving his many questions aside, he asked the new CMO, “Uh, sir? Is there, uh, anything I can do?”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

“Are you sure it was the pain, doc? He was pretty wound up when I left. I ordered a sedative and some food for him when he woke. Was that sedative ever administered?”

Turning to the security ensign, McCleary also asked, “You had him talking Rado. did he have anything else to add?”

Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS Memorial

“I never had the, uh, opportunity to do so, sir. He’d fainted and started to bleed before I could do any of that.” Rado explained.
Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

The Ferengi stirred slightly, and a faint mumbling could barely be heard.

GM

Rado leaned forward to hear what Frax had to say.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

As Frax drew in a laboured breath, Rado could here a faint “moooo”, before Frax exhaled a “gieeeeeeee”.

GM

Wow, Frax was really attached to his mother. Oh, wait. That could be useful. “Sir?” He whispered to the doctor, “Would you happen to know if there is holo-emitters on this ship? Or more specifically, in the Sickbay?”

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of SecurityW

Silva looked up from the biobed, having more or less ignored the rest of the crew for a bit, his glasses having slid down his nose even further. “Yes. Ferengi have slightly different cardiovascular systems when it comes to their ear drums. When their blood pressure gets to be too high, pop goes the weasel and then they pass out. Not uncommon. Uncomfortable, but not uncommon.”

He looked over at Rado, and added with a warm smile, breaking his no-nonsense exterior for a moment, “Frank Silva.”

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

“Uh, Rado Gainn.” He said, introducing himself. “Listen, I was, uh, thinking that if we use the holo-emitters, we can project Frax’s mother. That would, uh, relieve poor Fraxie here of some stress and, uh, hopefully have him be more comfortable with tell us anything he hasn’t yet.”

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

“That’s all well and good, but does anybody have any clue as to what his mother looks like, or sounds like? It could even be his grandmother he’s asking for.”

He looked at Frax and then stepped back before the Ferengi could return to full consciousness. “Seeing me again probably isn’t going to help his stress levels any. I’m heading to the bridge. Mr. Rado, let me know if you get anything more helpful from him.”

Saxon nodded to the other officers and exited sickbay. . . .

Lieutenant Commander Saxon McCleary
Chief Intelligence Office USS Memorial

Rado hated to admit, Lieutenant Commander McCleary had a point. Unless… “What if we put him in a holodeck program that mimics the Ferengi homeworld in real time? Frax can just walk to his mother’s or grandmother’s house while I monitor the situation.”

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

One of the security ensigns stepped forward. “Sir, we did recover a holographic projector that displayed a Ferengi female as part of Frax’s personal effects,” he said. “That might just give you enough to get started.”

OOC: I’m not sure the ship would be capable of recreating the entire Ferengi homeworld, but I do like where you’re going with this, so I’ll throw you this bone :-)

GM

Resisting the urge to question the ensign to choosing then, he said, “Well, that’s, uh, great. When, uh, Doctor Silva gives us the go-ahead, why don’t we take Frax to someplace private?”

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

“Only if a member of the medical staff goes with him,” Frank decided after a moment of contemplation. He tapped his commbadge then and in his usual unhurried tone said =/\=Commander Silva to Ensign Royce. Please report to the sickbay. I have an assignment for you.=/\=

While he waited for the other doctor to arrive, he explained, “She will go with him and monitor the situation to ensure that he doesn’t have any other medical issues including a psychosis episode. I trust this is a satisfactory arrangement?”

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

“Yes, that, uh, works for us, sir. Thank you.” Rado said. After drumming his finger along the biobed, he sighed and asked, “Ever seen the holonovel Janir Nights? It’s, uh, pretty good.”

Isabelle Royce had just finished her dinner and was preparing to take a little tour of the ship when she received the summons to Sickbay 1. As she made her way down the corridor her mind automatically went into doctor mode, her senses telling her this wasn’t for onboarding physicals. As she entered the Sickbay she saw that there was a number of senior officers there. “Most unusual, obviously something or someone important” she thought, also taking note of the numerous security personnel in attendance.
Spotting Dr. Silva in an exam room and not wanting to interrupt his conversation with a Security officer, she brought up the patient’s record.

When Dr. Silva had concluded his conversation, Dr. Royce turned to him, saying ” I concur regarding the diagnosis doctor. I would like to run a few more tests though. My primary goal would be to get his BP down. His blood panel shows slight traces of a known antihypertensive exclusively effective on the Ferengi physiology. It’s so slight it’s inconclusive if he was taking medication for a previously diagnosed condition or if it’s just showing up as a naturally occurring nutrient from something he ate. I don’t worry too much about his asking for his mother, as I’m sure you know that most males from many species when seriously injured, ask for their mothers, occasionally even a Klingon will, but he obviously thinks he’s dying. My suggestion is we run a few more tests, administer an effective antihypertensive, an Anxiolytic to calm him down, and an analgesic for pain. Then let him believe that I’m going to take him home. Do you concur? “
As she was waiting for his reply, she wondered what was so important about the patient that most of the senior officers had been in the Sickbay.

“I should hope so, Doctor Royce,” Silva said with hint of mischief in his eyes as he looked over his half moon glasses. “You are the attending now. Do what you need to do to keep him stable and assist the Chief of Security. Very important patient.”

He looked over to Gainn, “You are in very capable hands. Now before I go tend to my Romulan violets is there anything else you need?”

Dr. Frank Silva
Chief Medical Officer

OOC: Rado hasn’t been promoted yet, but I’ll have him stop by the place where he got promoted.

IC: Rado shook his head. “No, no, that’s everything, sir. Uh, thank you.” Turning to Ensign Royce, he asked, “Are you, uh, ready?”

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

Dr. Royce responded to Dr. Silva with a nod and “affirmative” as she watched him leave, obviously those Romulan Violets were calling she laughed to herself. Turning to the COS, she replied ” Give me about 15 minute to wake him and make sure he’s properly medicated. I am concerned about his BP, we don’t know if it was a pre existing condition and he had not taken his meds or if it was due to stress. I’m leaning toward a pre existing condition. Either way we will have to monitor him carefully and be able to give him brief breaks to recover himself. While I’m doing this, now would be a good time to make any adjustments to the Holo program, etc.

<tag> Rado Gainn
OOC I believe it may be better to start a new thread for the Holodeck
Also is the Ferengi patient an NPC or is someone swimming for him?
Ens. Isabelle Royce, Doctor

“It’s the stress, yeah.” The Bajoran muttered. “Alright, uh, meet me in Holodeck Three when Frax is in the clear. See you later.” With that, Rado Gainn walked out Sickbay to get things ready for their Ferengi friend.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Rado Gainn
Chief of Security

OOC: The Ferengi is an NPC, with GM Jack doing it for him.

Under Doctor Royce’s care, Frax’s blood pressure started to reduce as the Ferengi started to regain consciousness. He started to look around as he came to, clearly still dazed.

“Where am I?” he asked, before looking around again. “Moogie?”
