“Commander,” Sabik said inquisitively, “What is the object that you have brought into the lab.” Sabik instinctively told the computer, “Computer, erect a level 2 force field around the object.” Pulling out his tricorder, Sabik started scanning the cube like object while inspecting it. Sabik waited for a response to his scans while apologizing to Commander Hall Angel with, “Sir, excuse my intrusion into your analysis of the object but I did hear that all Department Heads were summoned to the Main Briefing Room. My team here in Science Lab 1 can finish the analysis and send you the results.” Sabik raised an eye brow while waiting for the Commanders response.

“Thank you Lieutenant. Keep me informed while I am there at the meeting. After that, I’d like to know your background after everything is done.” The commander said to the lieutenant.

Sabik looked at the Commander and said, “That is a most logical decision Sir” and watched him walk out the lab. Sabik looked at his team with a balanced demeanor and stated, “We have an objective to accomplish. Each of you please complete your analysis as quickly and accurately as possible. Time is of the essence.” Sabik went back to his tricorder waiting for the first set of scan results.

Commander Angel walks back from the bridge since the meeting had then been basically concluded. Hall then walked into the turbolift and said “Science lab.” He said to the computer. The turbolift doors had then swooshed closed. He was happy that he has at least one person in his department.

The turbolift had then halted and the doors swooshed wide open. He then walked out of it and started walking to the science lab. By the time he got to the science lab, the lab doors swooshed wide open. “Lieutenant. What’s the status on this cube that we have? I’m sure once we get a good science report done I’ll then go ahead and give it to the captain. Again. Depending on what you got for me.” He said looking at the Lieutenant. “Also, I also want to eventually sit down and hopefully get to know you and everything. Did you also do your other check in’s by any chance. Once we are done. I would suggest you go and do that. But first of all, this is more important. So what do we got?” He asked with a smile.

“Sir,” Sabik answered, “Our scans are still incomplete and it would be unwise to speculate without it being complete.” Sabik thought about the next thing the Chief Science Officer said and replied, “Once I arrived aboard ship, the logical place for me was here to start the investigation. I plan to finish my In-processing of the ship once the situation allows the time.”

“That’s what I like to hear once everything is done. Since everything has finished up there at the bridge I just thought I’d come down and lend a hand.” He said offering his assistance to Lieutenant Sabik.

Passive scans of the cube showed that it wasn’t emitting any energy pattern. However, when the science team conducted active scans to determine its construction, they found that the reflected signal was weaker than it should have been. It was only when they increased the tricorder power output to 1000%, that they got the anticipated response.

Scans of the surface showed intricate micro-etchings, resembling a combination of circuitry and perhaps even runes. Further scans would show that the cube contained different quantum layers within the structure, with each layer appearing to shift or reconfigure when scanned.

More curiously, when the active scans had been completed, passive sensors would observe an increase in tachyon particles around the cube for a brief period of time before they dissipated.

“Fascinating.” Sabik said emotionless, “The engineering department might want to be a part of this considering the amount of tachyon particles that briefly emanated from the cube Commander .” Sabik said to the Chief Science Officer. Sabik when back to looking over the scan results wondering what the micro etching was for. “Ensign,” Sabik said, “Let us start by figuring out what these etchings are for then we can dig deeper into the cube.”

“Computer”, Sabik said, “Please display a three dimensional representation of the cube surface at 200 percent resolutioin.” and waited for the display.

The computer displayed a closer up visual of the cube, but with the microscopic etchings amplified. They clearly were markings of some language, rather than functional pathways on the circuit.

Hall Angel looked at it and then spoke up. “Computer. Identify the language on the cube.” He asked the computer to go ahead and do something that is unusual for the markings that hasn’t been open just yet.

“The language is not a recognised language.” replied the computer.

“Damn it.” He said. The computer wasn’t wrong. With the language not recognized, it’ll be harder for them even to know the origins. However, he realized something. “Computer. Pinpoint the main origin of the cube.” He said.

“The object is of unknown origin. However, quantum signatures from the object do not match the quantum signature of the ship.”

OOC: Don’t give up too easily on the language. I’d like to see a bit more problem solving than just asking for the translation.

“Computer. Is it possible that the quantum signature of the cube could be borg?” He asked but wasn’t so sure about it.

OOC: Oh I’m not giving up. It’s how he is. He’s expressing what else could there be.

“Insufficient information,” responded the computer. “Specific quantum signatures are associated with all matter common within a quantum universe.”

Sabik’s eyebrow lifted with the computers remark. Looking at the cube, Sabik asked, “Computer does the cube share our quantum signature?” Sabik looked at the Lucas and said, “Everything in a universe shares a quantum signature. If this cube has a different signature then it is not from our universe.”

“Negative, the cube does not share the same quantum signature as Lieutenant Commander Hall or Lieutenant Sabik,” the computer dutifully replied.

Hall walks back in. “Computer. Does the cube have borg technology?” He asked.

OOC: If I were to play a game of “hot and cold”, I would have said “hotter” when quantum signatures were being discussed. You have literally just found out that the cube is not from the same universe as the Memorial.

IC: “Negative,” replied the computer.

Sabik looked at the cube and said, “Fascinating.” then looking towards the Commander and stated, “Sir, I recommend letting the bridge know that the cube is not from our universe and to scan our area to possibly scan long range to figure out if their are any other quantum signatures that match the cube.”

Sabik went back to his scans of the cube trying to figure out any other vital information.
