Rado sat in the brig guard’s chair, watching the Ferengi, who was still crying. Prophets, Rado thought to himself, I was on Bajor under the Cardassians for 2 decades and I’ve cried less! After shoving aside the guilt from that thought, a thought entered his mind. If Lieutenant McCleary orders him to leave, should he do so? There was probably something in the rulebook about not letting an interregator alone with a suspect, but Rado knew that he shouldn’t upset the higher-ups further. He really pushed it with the question he asked Lieutenant Turner about how many people died because of him. In hindsight, that was a really dumb question. Gasha always said that he was his own worst enemy. Gasha. He hadn’t heard from her in a while. Huh. Maybe he should-
His thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of the brig doors opening.

Jason steped into the brig having seen the check in, he stepped up to Ensign Rado. “What do we got Ensign, who’s our guest and why is he crying?” he said a little uncomfortable that a grown adult was acting in such away.

Lieutenant Jack ‘Blaze’ Turner
Chief of Security / Tactical Officer

“Meet Frax. He’s a Ferengi that caused us a whole lot of trouble involving a cube he wanted sell on the black markets. As to why he’s been crying for the past half hour, I’ve got theories ranging from him being the family dunce who finally got to do an acquisition only to blow it to him being only recently switching from diapers…sir.”

Jack looked over his shoulder at the Ferengi, “His lobes do look a little under developed.” he noted then turned back to Rado, “Has anyone interigated him yet?” he said looking back over at the Ferengi, with a looked that suggested it would not be a good thing if Jack did the interogation.

“Lieutenant McCleary said he would take care of it, but he hasn’t been done yet.” Rado pursed his lips, debating whether or not he should ask his question that he was thinking about. “Sir, let’s say that, uh, hypothetically Lieutenant McClearly, or any superior officer for that matter, gives me a direct order that probably violates some Starfleet protocol. Should I follow the protocol or, uh, obey orders?”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

Jack turned his back to the prisoner and mouthed the word Protocol then opened his mouth “You follow orders without question, if he orders that we hang this tiny lobbed failure by the lobes till he squeals then thats his perogitive” he said with a small smirk sugesting he did not mean it. He had delt way more than he wanted to wit the Ferengi and they valued cunning, power and wealth. He had no intention of violating starfleet protocol but the occupent of the brig did not know that.

Saxon stepped into the brig and nodded to the two security men. “Lt. Turner. Ens. Gann, has our guest decided to share anything with us yet? I hope not, because I’ve had enough of not knowing what the hell is going on.”

He stepped closer to the cell. “This may get ugley. . . and messy, You two might want to make yourselves scarce for awhile. . . . .no, be best if you hang around. I’m not sure how far I’ll gp without someone here to bring me back down.”

Setting a pouch he had been carrying down on the console so Frax he could the instruments inside, he would see various instruments that were capable of causing various forms of pain: knives, pliers an old style syringe with a vial of some green liquid . . .

“Open the cell, ensign. . . . .”

Jack gave a slight nod and pulled back a bit, giving the cell guest an empathetic looked that suggested he was sorry. He wasn’t but he was trying to put as much fear in him as he could. More often then not ones own mind was the main enemy in interogation.

Resisting the urge to correct Lieutenant McCleary about Bajoran surname culture, Rado pressed the button that opened the cell door. Judging by how this seemed to be going, Rado knew that he must likely will end up vomiting the ratamba stew he ate for lunch.

Tyr returned from the Security Office with a tray of coffee for his fellow guards, he wondered if the Ferengi was still crying. He arrived just in time to see a Lieutenant in yellow he didn’t recognise at first glance. That was an intelligence uniform which meant that man was McCleary the ship’s Intel Officer. Tyr placed the tray on the table “I asked the replicator to make your usual on-duty shift hot beverage Ensign Rado” He said to the Bajoran in a low voice handing him the travel mug unsure what was in it.

“Ooh, Kava juice,” Rado said, excitedly picking up his cup and taking a sip, “Ah, thanks, Ensign Bragason.”
He turned to Lieutenant Turner and whispered, “Sir, when should we, uh, draw the line?”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

Jack stepped up behind Rado, “what are you drinking Ensign?” he said his eyes looking over the cup. “I prefer coffee but that smells good.”

Lieutenant Jack ‘Blaze’ Turner
Chief of Security / Tactical Officer

Rado turned to his boss. “Kava juice, sir,” He answered, “It’s, uh, made from the Kava fruit back home on Bajor.”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

Tyr slid a cup to the Security Chief “That’s for you sir, don’t have one for the Int Lieutenant” He said indicating towards McCleary “Didn’t expect anyone outside the department” That wasn’t the complete truth, he hadn’t expected Lieutenant Turner to be there but one of the tips of the trade he’d gotten from his brother was always prepare a coffee for the boss.

Ensign Tyr - Sec

“I, uh, don’t think he’ll mind, Ensign Bragason.” Rado said, looking at the Chief Intelligence Officer standing in front of Frax, “Lieutenant McCleary seems to be busy for now.”

Jack looked at the drink it looked good he thought. “Thank you” he said as he took it and tasted it. “Not bad, note sure i could drink it all the time, but it’s good” he noted as he watched as the Inteligence officer got to work.

Chief of Security / Second Officer

Blades in hand with his back to the cell, Saxon smirked to the security team around the brig. With a quick wink, he informed Frax that his time was up. “I hope none of you have a squeamish side. . . .”

“If one of you gentlemen would be so kind as to drop the forcefield. . . .oh, and there will be no need to call sickbay. I know some first aid . . . .some.”

As the field dropped, the intel officer stepped inside the cell. “I tried to do it the nice way, Frax, the standard Starfleet way. Gave you plenty of opportunities to explain what was going on, yet you STILL were uncooperative. Now,” his face turned dark and malevolent, “we do it my way. The fun way. . . .”

Turning to face the cell

By now, Frax was exhausted. He had clearly been under stress the entire time he had been on the ship, and perhaps even before. He was rocking in the corner of the brig, muttering “droidlings” over, and over. Clearly shut down, he ignored the taunts from his captors.

Rado was no stranger to watching people being gravely injured. A consequence of growing up on Cardassian Bajor. If he can live through that, he can stomach this.

Jack was not comfortable leting Saxon mangle a man in his Brig, “A moment Chief, before you proceed” he said walking toward the door

As Commander Turner and Lieutenant McCleary left to have a brief conversation, Rado looked at Frax, curled up in a ball, muttering to himself like a mad man. It brought to mind the times where he saw little children cry in the streets. Oh, Prophets, what have I done? He thought.

He approached the cell, stopping at the door. “Hey, buddy,” He said, trying to sound friendly, “I’m sorry about all this. I shouldn’t have stood aside. But I’ll tell you what. If you tell us, or at least give a detailed description, as to who gave the cylinder or if they said anything to halt its effects, I’ll take you to a holodeck where you can interact with your Moogie. Does the sound good?”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

The Ferengi suddenly stopped, before wrapping his arms around the Bajoran, almost squashing him in a vice-like grip.

“No-one gave us the cube…” he said, his voice stuttering. “It was salvage, salvage!” he exclaimed. “Then they came, the droidlings, in their cylindrical ship! Did they know about the cube? Frax doesn’t know!”, he continued, still stuttering, but his voice quickening as if talking about it was a release for him.

He paused, before suddenly remembering something. “The squeak! The squeak! Oh, how they droidlings squeaked as they moved… their legs of metal… painful to Ferengi ears…”

He paused again. “But they were quick, moving with purpose… wanted to get to our salvage. The Damon didn’t want them to have it… little choice he had…” he said, before his voice trailed off. “One moment he was there, the next he disappeared.”

Not even Rado’s sister Xamis hugged as tight as Frax. And that was saying something. He listened to the Ferengi’s story and tried to make sense of it. Droidlings? Sounds like a job for the Science Department. “Alright, alright, I’ll, uh, see what we can do,” He said, gently prying Frax off him. “But for now, a promise is a promise.” He said.

With that, he put Frax in handcuffs and lead him out of the cell. He looked at Ensign Bragason and asked, “Would you be willing to go to the Science Department and, uh, tell them what we know?”

Ensign Rado Gainn, Security Officer

Upon getting a reply from Bragason, Rado nodded and continued to escort Frax to a holodeck.
