OOC: I’m just going to move this along a bit, with Jake taking an iLOA. Feel free to continue the other threads, but it will broadly all come to this.

IC: By now, it was clear the immediate danger to the ship had passed. Engineering teams were starting to bring systems back online, and Medical had triaged the casualties from the attack. There was still no clue who had attacked them, or what the cube was for, other than it had emitted a strong tachyon surge. The Captain had decided to get all of the Command Staff and DH’s together in the briefing room to discuss the situation, and share with each other what they knew. He was confident that they all had the pieces of information to figure out what to do next.

Jack walked into the briefing room shaking of earlier event, he looked around the room to see who had arrived.

Lucas had then walked right into the briefing room. Not knowing what is all about but willing to listen. He then took a seat in the room next to the Chief Security and Tactical officer and didn’t do anything or say anything.

Saxon came into the room with a large cup of ice water in hand. He needed something cool to calm him down after dealing with the uncooperative Frax.

He nodded to the others already gathered and took a seat.

The Captain looked at his team as they assembled around the briefing table.

“Well, what an interesting few hours this has turned out to be,” he said. “As you know, we were attacked by an unknown vessel that seems to have disappeared. I wanted to get you all here so that we can piece together what’s happened to it. Any thoughts so far?”

Saxon leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table. “Captain, there is absolutely nothing that is making any sense of this situation, so I’m just throwing something out there. . . . with the amount of tachyon activity floating around, and the other ship blinking out, is it possible THEY are still in the same place and were able to send us somewhere, or . . . somewhen else?”

“I feel like that it might also have zero sense of the situation. I am forced to agree with Saxon.” He said.

The captain nodded. “Do we know where the tachyon energy originated from?” He asked.

John slipped in, still in his flight suit, and took an empty seat near the COS. “No indication of a source that we saw out there.”

Jack leaned in head slightly to the side, “No sir, it’s like it just vanisehd.” he wispered under his breath.
OOC: Correct me if I’m wrong but . . . .

IC: “I believe that we were getting tachyon readings from both the cube device and the enemy ship when they attacked us, almost as if in unison. It seemed the attack activated the cube. . . . “

“I don’t recall there being any tachyon energy from outside the ship, but I did hear about the cube in the transporter room giving off such energy as it activated.

“But how would it have activated. I mean I know science has no say on all of this but how would that work? Could it have some sort of activation device that might’ve woke it up or something or what is it?” Lucas asked.

A lowly Ensign who had been sent from engineering spoke up. “Well, there was those power surges as the shields took the impact from the ship’s beam. The cube seemed to use those to power up. Although I think they are not directly related to- I’m not sure that ship’s beam was specifically designed that way, it was just a byproduct.”

Jack finally spoke up he had been trying to figure things out, it was all a little confusing. “Is it possible that the unknow vessel, activated remotely as some sort of weapon? ” he asked. Life had been so much more simple in the cockpit.

“I see two possibilities.” The Captain said. “Either that ship activated the cube, or the cube activated itself. What I’m most confused by is why the ship was firing on us if it was activating the cube. It could have easily done that without firing a shot.”

He paused a moment. “Science, let’s take a look at the cube in more detail, see what we can find out about it - I want to know how it activated. Security, go over the sensor data collected during the skirmish. Engineering and medical, let’s get this ship back up to fighting form in case we have a second round.”

“Any questions?”

“I’d like to keep patrols at all hours, with the squadron at ready 10 on a two shift rotation. At least until engineering gets us patched up, my squadron’s our best line of defense if that thing comes back.”

“Agreed!”, said the CO. “We don’t want anymore surprises.”

“Just a thought here, Captain. Is it possible . . . the cube has a self-defense mechanism? When we were fired upon, the cube took that as a threat, and activated itself, keeping us from doing anything to it?”

“A good question,” the Captain said, before Saxon continued.

“Lt Angel, your thoughts on that?

“Well from what the scans have told me it is possible. The cubes self-defense mechanism might have activated. By that it must’ve stopped us from doing anything. So it’s possible that we can beam over a away team and see if we can deactivate it before the cube knows something is up. Get in deactivate the defensive mechanism get out. I know it’s not so easy to put it. But it’s a suggestion.” Lucas said.

The Captain looked slightly puzzled. “Before we beam anywhere, let’s investigate the cube that’s in our transporter bay first.” he said.

Jack gave a nod, “Sound plan Sir,” he noted “I’ll make sure to have a tactical officer availiable to support until this is resolved” he said his hands shifting accross the padd to make the needed adjustments. He waited for approval from the captain before comiting the orders.

“Let’s get to work everyone,” the Captain said, before getting up from his chair.
