Approaching the holodeck, John entered and commanded, “Computer, begin program Tolly 1.” In an instant, the stark holodeck grid transformed into a picturesque Mediterranean like seaside vista, complete with a sun-drenched beach. Without hesitation, John donned his bathing trunks and made his way to the welcoming embrace of the ocean.

Lucas had gotten to the holodeck and noticed it was occupied. However it was rather a unusual program that he had never encountered before. He had thought about it long and hard and he had decided to step right on in.

John glances upward and catches sight of the Chief Science Officer. A grin spreads across his face, and he enthusiastically raises his hand in greeting. “Hey there! Welcome to Alpha Centauri, or at least the next best thing—a simulation!” he chuckles, striding over to Lucas with a friendly demeanor.

Lucas had the. Walked in and looked at him with a smile and with a friendly demeanor as well. He was pretty happy with this. “Thanks John. I appreciate the welcome. This is nice.” Lucas smiled again and had stated.

“Alpha Centauri here, my family traces its roots back to the original colonist” he replied, “I was raised in Starfleet though, Dad was a Admiral and mom was on the Federation Council, my folks wanted to be have a strong connection to Alpha Centauri, so I never went off world until i was 16, hell my first time on earth was my first day at the academy”

He gestures around the holodeck program, “It’s somewhat like this,” he remarks. “Warm, dry summers, mild, wet winters, and stunning beaches,” he continues, “It’s very much akin to the regions of Greece on Earth.”

John gave Lucas a somewhat puzzled look. “Well, um, I mean it’s Alpha Centauri. It’s the closest star system to Earth and was, therefore, the first planet outside of the Sol system to be colonized by humans. We have a strong independent streak, and we tend to identify ourselves as Centauri rather than human,” he explained.

John raised an eyebrow. “You’ve never been to Alpha Centauri?” he asked quizzically. “It’s one of the core worlds of the Federation. I find it odd that you haven’t really heard about it,” he said.

“Sadly no. Never had the chance of going because of my studies back at the academy. Never really crossed my mind honestly.” He said with a gentle smile. “But I do want to go and visit though.” He added.

He smiles back “you should, Alpha Centauri sometimes gets overlooked when it comes to the core worlds of the Federation, most people still see us as simply a colony world, but if you look at the Federation Charter we signed as an independent system not a colony” he says proudly
