* This is happening just before the current unhappiness with the folk on that other ship trying to split the Memorial into smaller bits. It didn’t seem likely they’d let a transport vessel come up to the Memorial, drop off someone and go without taking action of some kind. *

Erin Kennedy, a seasoned an experienced engineer with a knack for fighter craft maintenance arrived on the Memorial as a member of the ship’s flight wing. She officially had the position title of Lead Fighter Systems Engineer, but she suspected it was possible she may have to work more generally in Engineering when the birds were out dealing with threats, or when the sparkies in Engineering had their hands full in dealing with some other issues. Upon boarding the ship, Erin wasted no time in reporting to Major John Arlen, the Head of the Air Group on the Memorial. She had enough of sitting, making small talk as she was transported here, she wanted to get her hands dirty inside the guts of one of the birds.

Erin headed down to the Hanger Bay. The holographic guide to Engineering the Memorial that she had with her on the trip here told her she needed to go to Deck 20 for the Hangar Bay, so she took a turbolift down. Entering the Bay, she saw a lower ranked enlisted crewmember, and after exchanging gretings, Erin asked, “the chief aroud?” her voice filled with anticipation. The crewmember pointed her in the direction of one of the fighter craft, and Erin wasted no time in heading over to him.

“Major Arlen,” she called out as she reached the indicated craft, speaking over the hum of the vessel, and coming to attention, “I’m Chief Warrant Officer Erin Kennedy, your new sparky. I’m here to get my hands dirty. Any of the birds need repairs or a tune-up?”

Erin was enthusiastic and eager to contribute to the Air Group, and that should have been immediately apparent. She was excited to be here and to put her skills to use and become an integral part of the Memorial’s operations.

OOC: My only exposure on how to address military superiors comes from Star Trek shows in the main (and Hogans Heroes and MASH). Hope I didn’t do anything wrong. Assume Erin did it correctly :D

John turned around from his fighter, having been fiddling with some of the fine-tuning. It wasn’t remotely his job to do the maintenance (in fact, it was the woman addressing him’s job), but he did a bit on occasion anyway. “Welcome aboard.” He grinned, almost impishly. “And unless the Captain, XO, or the brass are down here, don’t worry about rank or standing at attention. I’ll answer to Firefly. Want to take a look and make sure I didn’t miss anything?” He gestured to his craft. “I took extra engineering classes, but it’s been a while.”
