Tyr stood on the dual-coloured mat of the Phaser Range. The room was dark as he set the parameters, a level 12 exercise, adequate for keeping up the standard skill level yet challenging enough not to be a walk in the proverbial park. He drew his sidearm, a type two phaser, the standard weapon assigned to Security personnel on the Memorial. He’d been on the memorial for the better part of a year now but he still felt like a raw recruit. He’d gone through one Security Chief and two CAGs, although technically it was only two people. This is something he’d come to expect from service, Starfleet was a transient service and people often transferred between places at the drop of a hat, the only Junior Officer in the security department he remained familiar with was his Wingman NE Black who he’d been partnered with since day one.He hefted the weapon and inhaled deeply then as soon as he heard the computer chirp he raised the weapon, turning in a half pirouette and shooting the first glowing orb, hitting it directly. He repeated the action, turning, then shooting, turning, and shooting. One by one each glowing orb was struck with the orange beam of his phaser and before he knew it the computer chirped again, the exercise was over. Tyr exhaled, holstered his weapon and went to read the results of his shooting.

The sound of a closing bell rang out signling the end of around as Jack stepped into the room. He look over the man who had just finised his round, it was one of his officers though he had not had a chance to meet the man yet, or half of his team for that matter. ‘Guess it’s time to call a team meeting’ he though to him self walking over. “Ensign Bragason right?” he asked.

Chief of Security / Tactical OfficerTyr turned around and immediately put his hands behind his back and stood at attention “Yes, sir. Although please just Tyr is fine, I’m from a patronymic society, we don’t put much stock in last names.” He said in a calm voice, quickly overcoming his initial surprise “I also take assignments as a Pilot under the callsign Maple” He added.

“Nice to meet you Tyr, you can call me Jack, callsign is blaze,” he noted and then continued. “Call me either when protocol is not at play.” he turned motioning to the the target. “How’d you score” he asked.
Lieutenant Jack ‘Blaze’ Turner
Chief of Security / Tactical OfficerTyr nodded and relaxed. He turned back to the console and brought up his score “Perfect score, High accuracy, decent precision. It’s only a level 12, I don’t have the same accuracy at 13 and above yet” He said truthfully

Jack gave a small nod .”Not bad Tyr not bad at all” he reached down and keyed up level thirteen , “Lets have a look at you then, see if maybe I can help you out”. He noted trying to take the pressure off. “It took me a while to get through thirteen and higher with any consistency” he looked up.

The younger man nodded and walked to the centre of the platform and drew his weapon. He never felt nervous during situations like this, all that mattered was getting constructive criticism from a senior who had practical experience and unlike the Academy here he could learn where it was alright to improvise or go beyond standard training. He raised his weapon and fired at the first glowing orb
