Jack gave a tight tug on his uniform and rang the chime to the CO’s Ready Room. He did not know much about the XO, he knew a little based on her file. He would keep it formal until she indicated otherwise. So far he had been well received but that was not uncommon among peers, his boss was another matter.

“Enter,” she called out, her tone highly professional as she was raised as a staunch Romulan and interacted with Klingons for most of her life. Her whole perception of being in Starfleet was about duty and adhering to the rules.
As the door slid open, revealing Lieutenant Turner, Sifeda appraised him with a quick, assessing glance. She noted the confident stance, the uniform, a good first impression, but Sifeda knew better than to judge solely on appearances.

“Lieutenant Turner,” she acknowledged, gesturing for him to come closer. “I trust your transfer went smoothly?” Her voice was calm, giving little away as she observed his reaction.

“I am him Sir,” he said with a snap to attention his eyes quickly assessing the room. “Reporting as ordered” he said getting the formality in. “Transfer went well Sir, though it did take some time to get here” he said moving closer but regaining his previous attention stance and posture. He had not be released yet and did not want to assume anything, after all the amount of responsibility she was putting into his had was not small by any stretch of ones imagination. He met her gaze with confidence with little reflected in his own eyes other than some excitement at the new opportunity.
