The hum of consoles and the soft glow of starship displays greeted Lieutenant John Tolly as he stepped onto the bridge. His heart raced, a mix of anticipation and duty. The USS Memorial was his new home, and he was ready to serve.

The crew moved with purpose, their uniforms crisp and their focus unwavering. John’s gaze swept across the room: the helmsman at the controls, the science officer huddled over data, and the communications officer relaying messages.

The Lt. walked over to the Captain snaping to attention waiting to be acknowledged.

OOC: I’ll take this. I believe it’s customary to check in with the XO first :)

IC: Sifeda turned her head in the direction of Lieutenant John Tolly as he approached, while she rarely smiled, her eyes met his with a friendly acknowledgment. She observed his crisp uniform, noting the determination and anticipation in his eyes. As he snapped to attention, she admired his dedication to duty.

“At ease, Lieutenant,” she said, “Welcome aboard the USS Memorial. Reporting in?”

She looked at the chronometer on her console and said, “It looks like your timing is impeccable, the shifts are changing. Why don’t we take a walk?”

John nodded matching his steps with that of the XO

“Aye Commander”

Sifeda returned John’s nod with a slight tilt of her head, indicating for him to follow as she strode off the bridge and into the turbolife. As the lift came to a stop, she stepped out her boots making muted thuds against the metallic floor.

She glanced at John from the corner of her eye, assessing him silently as they walked. “So, Lieutenant,” she began, “tell me about yourself. What brings you to the Memorial?” While she had confidence in his abilities as a future Operations officer, her own background in security training allowed her to recognize the traits of a Security officer in him.

John tilted his head a bit following the Commander out of the turbolift.

“Well, My dad father was or..still is actually an admiral and my mother worked in the diplomatic corp, spending time representing my home world of Alpha Centuari on the Federation Council”

He chuckled

“My parents were slightly disappointed when i didn’t follow the traditional Command path that most of our family has taken., as for why i’m here?”

He gave a slight shrug

“my previous posting was as an assistant operation officer, my commanding officer felt i was ready to take the next step and saw that the Memorial had an opening”
