Sifeda looked out the window of the shuttle as she approached the Memorial, her heart racing with the thrill of being back on a starship. It had been a year since she was stationed at the Starbase where she worked as a security officer, following her service as the Executive Officer on the Ark Angel. While the Starbase had its excitement and challenges, and her stint as a security officer gave her the downtime she needed, to spend time with her husband, nothing compared to the thrill of being on a starship and exploring the vastness of space.

As the shuttle docked, she couldn’t suppress the grin that spread across her face. Finally, she was assigned to a starship again. The thought of venturing into the depths of space filled her with a sense of purpose she hadn’t felt in months.

But what truly excited her was the prospect of meeting Captain Aiden Voss. She didn’t know much about him, except for what she had gleaned from his service record. Yet, she had a gut feeling that they would make a great team. Sifeda was confident in her abilities and believed that together, they could achieve great things.

Exiting the shuttle, Sifeda made her way to her assigned quarters on the Memorial, eager to settle in before meeting with Captain Voss. She quickly stowed her belongings, especially her beloved Bat’leth, and then took a moment to admire the surroundings of the starship. Then, with a quick stride, she headed towards the bridge, her mind already buzzing with plans and ideas for their upcoming missions.

As she approached the bridge, Sifeda took a deep breath to steady the excitement of her nerves. She was about to start this new chapter of her career, and she was ready to face challenges that came her way.

Her eyes scanned the layout, noting the positioning of consoles, the arrangement of stations, and the efficient movements of the crew members. It felt good to be back in this environment. Casually, she began to walk around the perimeter of the bridge as she observed the crew, noting their extreme focus on their duties.
As she circled back towards the command center, Sifeda caught a glimpse of the Captain’s chair. A chair she hoped to occupy on some starship one day. It would be an honor unlike any other. After a moment in her thought, she left to go meet the Captain in his ready room.

Aiden busied himself unpacking a few items from his cargo container, labeled ‘office stuff.’ As the Commander entered, Aiden’s door, always left unlocked, welcomed her with a gentle whoosh, and the motion sensitivity cranked up, ensuring any movement wouldn’t go unnoticed. She found him with his back turned, tending to a small bonsai tree positioned by the circular viewport, lost in the delicate task. It was evident he hadn’t yet noticed her arrival, so engrossed was he in his botanical pursuit.

Sifeda stood at the threshold of the ready room, watching as Captain Voss busied himself with his bonsai tree. She admired the way he tended to it with such care, lost in the delicate task.
Placing both arms behind her back, she cleared her throat softly to announce her presence, then she stepped further into the room. “Captain Voss,” she said, her voice steady and respectful. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything important.”

Aiden turned at the sound of Sifeda’s voice, a warm smile gracing his features as he welcomed her into his ready room. Setting aside the miniature pruning shears he had been using, he gestured for her to take a seat opposite his desk. “Lieutenant Commander Itri,” Aiden acknowledged with a nod of appreciation, impressed by her punctuality and professionalism. “You’re not interrupting at all. Please, have a seat.”

Sifeda approached his desk, her posture straight and professional. “I wanted to introduce myself, sir. Lieutenant Commander Sifeda Itri. I applied to your first officer and I am grateful for you allowing me the opportunity to serve with you.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant Commander,” Aiden replied warmly. “I’ve reviewed your file and I’m confident that you’ll be a valuable addition to our team. I’m glad to have you aboard.” He extended his hand across the desk in a gesture of camaraderie. “If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to let me know. We’re all here to support each other as we embark on this journey together and we the ships command team of all need to work well together.”
