Tyr sauntered into 10-forward just before lunch to get ahead of the first-shift crowd. He made his way past the bar to the replicator, he tapped the panel =^=Kadai Chicken with a side of Tawa Paratha, iced water=^= A moment later the food materialized on a tray, he grabbed it and turned around, the mess was only sparsely filled so he found an empty table and sat down preparing for his lunch.

Tyr Bragason

OOC: It is interesting that your text is green but you probably did something with html style. I’m going to hope in here to be able to do something.

Ciaran walked into 10-forward after a long shit. The mess with the away mission and what not had been beyond crazy. He hear Tyr order something which sounded interesting, which he had never had before. Ciaran walked over to the replicator and said, “I would like the same which was just ordered.” He was hoping the computer would spit out the same thing. He picked up the meal after it appeared. He then went over to Tyr and said, “I ordered the same thing you did. It sounded interesting. Can I sit down with you and we chat about this meal? I would love to hear about how long you have been eating it and how you came up with the idea (if it was yours).” He then waited for Tyr to respond.

OOC: The bump added brackets behind it which changes the color of older posts, didn’t do anything on purpose :P

Tyr put on a smile as he turned around “Of course please…” he hadn’t recognized the voice but as soon as he turned to face the man he visibly tensed and stood up, cutlery clattering on the table “No please have a seat, sir” He put hands behind his back, he hadn’t lost his grin but it didn’t have the same self-assured confidence behind it. “I uhh” He hesitated “I uhh, used to see a girl during my time at the Academy, she was studying art at the Art Institute, born in India. We used to spend weekends there, her mother ran a restaurant. Got a taste for Indian food” He hesitated “Sir”

Ensign Tyr - Sec

Ciaran looked at the Ensign and said, “You can call me Ciaran off duty. No need for the formalities. It looked like an interesting meal and I am always looking for something new to eat. This might be on my normal items to eat.” Ciaran went ahead and took a bite of the food. He found it to be very tasteful and was enjoying the food. He then said to Tyr, “How long have you been on the Memorial? I know I have not been around too long. I love hearing stories about the ship before I arrived. Any rumors or negativity you hear going on around the ship.” Ciaran always loved hearing what was going on outside of his ears because being a department head and now executive officer, sometimes members of the crew felt like they could not talk to him. He took another few bites and waited for a response.

XO

Tyr hesitated before sitting down, he didn’t seem to relax much but he no longer seemed like a deer in headlights “Big questions for a dinner conversation, sir” He hesitated “It’ll be a while before I’ll feel comfortable calling the ship’s XO by their first name if you don’t overly mind” He said with an apologetic smile “They’re very strict about respecting the uniform at the Academy and I understand it takes some time to fully get the starch out of the collars.” He spoke quickly, close to babbling. Tyr took a moment to visibly calm himself, relaxing taught muscles grabbing his cutlery, and continuing with his meal “To answer your first question, I was just assigned a few weeks ago, similar time as you did I believe, fresh outta flight school”

Ensign Tyr, Sec

Ciaran laughed at the young ensign responding with all the professionalism that comes from being a new ensign. He took another bite and then said to Tyr, “Guess we are both new on the Memorial together. What are you looking forward to most? What was your favorite subject in the academy?” Ciaran liked to try and learn about the crew and since Tyr was new, he thought this might be the best way to make the ensign feel more at ease. The young ensign’s were always the ones who were most nervous about speaking with command officers.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

Tyr swallowed a bite of the spicy food and drank some water to follow “Uhm I suppose flying answers both questions, After graduation from Starfleet Academy I transferred to take advanced flight courses in the Marine Starfighter Program.” He answered with a more confident air.

Ensign Tyr, Sec

OOC: Sorry, I have been extremely busy.

Ciaran through to himself and giggled on the inside. He then responded to Ensign Tye, “Then I know who the go to person is when I need someone to fly a shuttle.” He laughed. He finished up his meal. He then asked the young ensign, “What made you get into Star-fleet? What drove you to do security rather than another department?” He was hoping for some interesting information from the young ensign. He knew he needed to start getting to know the grew and this was a good start. He was curious to see if the ensign was nervous or laid back. Ciaran also observed the reactions of the ensign to see how he felt about security and how he monitored his surroundings.

Tyr joined the commander’s laugh and seemed to genuinely laugh not just out of politeness “My brother’s a Starfleet officer been in the service for nearly thirty years now, always looked up to him the most out of my siblings, guess I always wanted to get into the service. He was a tactical officer during the War and moved into operations after that, I’d first planned on the same but in the Academy, I was drawn to the Security field. I’ve always been rather athletic but I didn’t think that would translate well to their training. The other fields also, investigative training, standard guard duty, and all that, always being patient when needed. That was also when I started getting into flying, my instructor recommended me for advanced fighter training as I mentioned” He spoke with the vigor of youth that often accompanied those recentyl graduated from the academy.

Ensign Tyr, Sec

The chief engineer entered 10 forward, looking around the room. He looked at multiple tables, including empty ones, not sure where he would sit, or who he would sit with, in the event he didn’t sit alone. One immediately noticeable thing about his appearance was the dirt all over his uniform. He’d just finished doing some quite dirty work in engineering and it would seem he was here to rest from that.

Lieutenant Bol Th’arhosren (CE)

Ciaran looked up and saw the chief engineer entering 10 forward. He looked at his uniform and knew immediately the engineer had a very hard day being that dirty. There had been many times that Ciaran had been that dirty as a chief in the past. He knew the need to relax after a shift like that. He then said outloud, “Lt, why don’t you come over here and sit with us. We were just having a casual discussion. I can tell you have had a hard day and some relaxing is needed.” He then waved to the seat next to him for the Lt to come sit down when he was ready.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

Tyr looked around and visibly tensed for a moment, a few months ago he’d been on Earth as a cadet, although technically he’d graduated it was a part of his extended training agreement that he wasn’t given the rank of Ensign until he finished flight school so it was still instinct for him to stand at attention when faced with a superior officer, having the ships first officer and engineering chief made the hair on the back of his head rise “Uhm right” He turned back to his meal, grabbing some with his fork and eating a larger than usual amount, chewing quickly and swallowing, he’d almost forgotten being hungry.

Ensign Tyr, Sec

From all the years of being on ships and watching people, Ciaran noticed that Tyr seemed nervous. He noticed the oddity in his voice when he replied with Uhm right. He wanted to make the ensign feel more at ease. He said to Tyr, “There is no need to be nervous. We are off duty. Ranks normally matter but we are in a causal setting. It will take some time to get use to relaxed depending on the setting. We are not here to judge. Just general conversation after duty.” He then smiled at Tyr and took a bite of his food.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

Tyr laughed out loud at that “With all due respect, sir. I just finished my Marine Starfighter program, It’ll take a while until I’m used to eating lunch with the senior staff” He did seem more relaxed at the commander’s words though “But thank you, I’ll try to relax”

Ensign Tyr - Sec

Ciaran laughed to himself but did not do it out loud. He was always happy to see the properness of young ensigns but knew it would get more relaxed over time. He then responded to Tyr, “There is no need to apologize. I am just trying to help you relax as this is a relaxed setting. We are just men chit chatting at this point.” He waited for Th’arhosren to respond or sit down.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

OOC: sorry bout that, life got away from me.

Bol turned towards the table Tyr and Ciaran were at and sat down. “Having a good day?” He asked as he sat down.

Lieutenant Bol Th’arhosren

Ciaran looked up at Bol and said, “Yes, its better now we have a little downtime. I was getting hungry and rather tired. How is your day going Bol?” He was hoping everyone was ready for some relaxing time.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

Tyr took the opportunity to scarf down some food as the two senior officers spoke, he supposed this was a good chance to get to know the Memorials chief staff.

Ensign Tyr, Sec

Ciaran was happy to see more folks coming and going from 10 forward. It was normal times on the ship. He was worried about the moral of the ship but it seemed, at least from what he could see, everyone seemed happy. He was hoping to get some information out of Tyr and Bol. Just to see how things were going. After Bol sat down, Ciaran said to Bol, “Welcome lieutenant. How are things going down in engineering? It seems the ship is running well. When was the last time a full diagnostics was ran? Just curious.” Ciaran could never fully step away from being an engineer and it was his favorite. he was always excited to be able to chat with the chief engineer about engineering.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei

“The intermix ratios seemed a bit off all day, and I spent the better part of the day fighting it to get back to normal levels. The last diagnostic was run about three days ago, I have one scheduled once every five days, so I’ll be running another in two.”

He realized the ship could run well if the intermix ratios were ‘a bit’ off for longer than a day, but he also knew his job wasn’t to make the ship ‘good enough’, rather ‘as good as possible’. And that’s why he fought it as hard as he did. He figured the XO would understand this as well.

Lieutenant Bol Th’arhosren

Ciaran laughed to himself because he knew specially what Bol was speaking of. Being an engineer, most of the time, being better than the minimum required by Star-Fleet is what all the best engineers aimed for. He then said to Bol, “This is a good idea. I always liked being above the minimum requirements of Star-Fleet.” He smiled and continued to listen.

Nearby the doors to 2-Forward hissed, peeling back to admit Beckett. Stepping through, she slid to her right unconsciously, out of the way. Gone was the tactical gold uniform, instead replaced with black pants, black boots, a deep wine shirt of some kind under a black or charcoal colored jacket. Her hair was down, falling in loose waves and curls to her shoulders, clearly ‘off duty.’ Not that it mattered much for somebody in her field or position.

She made her way over to one of the replicator stations, got herself something hot and steamy to drink. With it was a bowl of something else steamy and something that at a distance resembled bread. With her spoils on a tray she made her way across the space, heading for the upper level, where she found a small table and perched next to the massive observation window.

Beckett

Ciaran saw Lt Beckett show up in the 2-Forward and she was sitting alone. He then said to Tyr and Bol, “Do either of you care if I go invite Maria to join us?” He then stood up and walked over to Maria and said, “Hi Maria. I see you are sitting alone. You want to come join us over at this other table?” He pointed over to the table where Tyr and Bol were sitting. He then continued, “We are just discussing non-ship things and no need for you to sit alone if you would like to chat.” He then smiled at her and waited for a response.

Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO

Tyr resisted the urge to stand at attention when Donoghuei called for his boss to join them. He’d of course noticed her entering the room, he was still stuck in the habit of watching the comings and goings of the people around him but he’d hoped yet another department head wouldn’t be added to the table. Discreetly he put his hand under the table and pinched his thigh, making sure not to winch due to the pain, just to make sure that he wasn’t having a nightmare.

Ensign Tyr, Sec

OOC: Thank you for the posting Tyr.

[Bump for Beckett]

Bol took the opportunity to look around 2-Forward while Ciaran was gone. He hadn’t actually been here yet in his time aboard, so he figured it he might familiarize himself with it.
