Having just arrived Nerira put her affects in her quarters and headed straight to the XO’s office where she rang the chime and waited to be admitted. So far she had been unlucky on two other ships, the first just didn’t work out for her, and the second was decommissioned shortly after her arrival, maybe third try’s the charm, she thought…

Dantius heard the chime, aware that there were several incoming personnel who were going to have multiple roles. Instead of saying anything, he simply pressed a button on his desk which opened the door. He waited to see if the person coming in would wait for an invitation or simply pass through an open portal. It was a small personality test, and maybe a little disingenuous, but Massana tended to use small tests instead of big ones in order to know how to best lead a person in the future.

“Sir? may I come in?”
As soon as she had said it is sounded silly, obviously she could come in, there were three ways that door could open: either one had to be the commander, one had to have a high enough override code, or someone had pressed the contact on the terminal inside to open the door. Seeing as she was not the commander and had not tried to override the door she felt she could reasonably assume that the commander had opened the door for her, plus he was watching her. meeting the commanders gaze she could sense that he was testing him so she simply tapped her head to remind him she was from Betazed and stepped through the door, “Nevermind…”

Dantius nodded, and motioned to the chair in front of his desk. “Please take a seat. However, in the future, I would suggest waiting for a response to a question before assuming the answer - which was, ‘Yes,’ to be fair.”

He knew who Akanar was, to be fair. Fighter craft on combat vessels were becoming more and more common once the Mjolnir and Olinski carriers proved to be successful additions to the fleet. He did not necessarily approve - a single vessel in Starfleet being capable of what amounted to minor fleet-level actions seemed contrary to Starfleet’s stated purpose in its charter of exploration, aid, and diplomacy - but he saw the utility of the decision.

“I am Commander Massana. You may address me by my rank or in the formal fashion you have already used, at least for now. I do not mind familiarity, but only from those with whom I am familiar. Feel free to tell me about yourself with as many or as few personal details as you wish.”
