Commander Massana came onto the Bridge shaking his head. He’d known that the Memorial-class was an upgrade of the Pendragon-class, but he’d forgotten that it was technically not an upgrade, but an overhaul. As such, he had forgotten that saying the deck number, as he had become accustomed to on his previous vessel, would not immediately place him on the Bridge. He had emerged in a corridor and had to summon another turbolift to actually get to the Bridge in order to report to the Captain. It would take him a little while to get used to being on the Memorial, even though he had studied the ship thoroughly before coming aboard. He nodded to the Bridge crew, clearly in their second shift, before walking over to the Ready Room door and pressing the chime.

“Commander Dantius Massana, reporting to the Commanding Officer of the USS Memorial,” he said, a lilt in his voice and something vaguely resembling a French tone betraying his island background.

“Come!” she called the door sliding open to reveal the simple office though the captain was not at her desk she was standing at the window looking out on a wall there were some historical weapons as well as an Ushann and what looked like a piece of Borg Armor “What can I do for you commander?” she asked simply

Commander Massana assessed the situation. Of course a warship would have a Ready Room with a captain with a penchant for collecting combat equipment.

“For the moment, I am simply reporting in, Captain,” Dantius said. “The Chief Medical Officer has cleared me for duty, and I am ready to receive any orders, standing or otherwise, that you may have issued but which were not in Starfleet’s central database.”

It was not exactly the friendliest of introductions, but then again, Dantius had never exactly become friends with his previous captains. Comfortable, definitely, but never quite familiar. He seemed to do better with subordinates and equals than superiors, for whatever reason. It was never an issue of a personality clash. There simply seemed to be a part of him that found the idea of becoming friends with someone who may have to order you to your death potentially compromising.
