It moved as swiftly as it could, savouring each measure of distance away from the shell that had kept is contained for so long. The environment had shifted though and there was a palpable tension as it moved along. After so long it felt good to take a form again. Freeing! And now that it had tasted that freedom again, it vowed never to allow itself to lose that freedom ever again.

Coming out at a particular place that seemed quiet, it took another form, one that it had seen briefly when it had fled. But it opted for a different size and age just in case these beings were like the others.

In Sickbay 2, a small Human boy (probably around six or seven years in age) appeared. Seeing that there were others around, the boy darted to a biobed and crouched down to the base.

Jack had been admonishing a junior Nurse for mislabeling a test sample they had been working on when he noticed the child running towards a biobed. He stopped mid-sentence to look at the young boy with a curious expression before he moved towards him. His first reaction had been to yell at the child but he quickly suppressed that instinct, he was no longer a science officer and doctors were expected to treat children, not as the nuisance they were but as… well something that wasn’t annoying him. He squatted near the child “Hello, can I help you child?” he asked, he did his best to put up a friendly tone and manner.

Though the mop of dark hair peeked out slightly, it quickly hid again.

But after a moment, the child slowly looked out from behind the biobed base, deep brown eyes gazing at Grey uncertainly. The child said nothing so far, but his expression was filled with a mix of fear and curiosity.

Jack cocked his head as the Child said nothing. His mind raced as he considered the best course of action. After only a few seconds he decided “I’m Jack, what’s your name?” He asked without moving from his squatting position.

Something in the small child seemed to relax as they took a deep breath and studied Grey. “I’m… Habray.”

Jack nodded “Who are your parents? Do you know where they are Habray” He continued his calm tone. The name was unfamiliar as was the child, in his mind’s eye he went through the Staff roster and looked for anyone who had children, he was unsure if there were many children on board.

Just then, a voice came over Sickbay 2’s comms.

=^= Engineering to Sickbay 2 and Security. We appear to be able to track the morphogenic being while it is in a fluidic state, and based on these readings I believe it would be logical to hypothesize that the being is in Sickbay 2. =^=

Habray tilted its head and seemed to consider Grey for a moment, but the subsequent comm call made Habray sudden hide again.

Jack frowned at the interruption, if the child was what they were looking for then the constant calls would do nothing but hinder. He quickly replaced the frown with a friendly smile and went ot speak but was interrupted.

He suppressed a grimace, it was the voice of Lieutenant Zero the Chief of Security. Blasted fool He thought to himself “No worries child, I won’t be putting up any fields” He said as he tapped his Combadge =^Grey to Captain Sh’Zoarhi, please make your way to Sickbay 2 and please inform Lieutenant Zero to keep out until you arrive=^= His voice was calm although he felt tense “How did you get inside Sickbay Habray? Can you tell me?” He asked, although his tone was soft he spoke to the child as he would an adult, he didn’t see the point in treating children differently than adults.
