Simon made his way into Sickbay, and slowly walked around the main area. It appeared to be a quiet day in Sickbay, so Simon took his time giving the space a good look over, awaiting someone to notice him there and be available to assist him.

A tall thin man with blond hair approached the new Officer. He examined the Betazoid with mild interest, his thoughts seemed disorganized, and in a dozen different places for a few moments until blue eyes met black. The doctor’s eyes narrowed slightly and his mind started going over Betazoid biology as if he were reading the information straight from a textbook. “I’m Chief Medical Officer Jack Alexander Grey” He said quite formally “How may I be of service”

Simon extended a hand. “Simon Arbogist. I’m the new counselor here on board. I’ve just arrived today and I’d like to have my boarding examination done.”

Jack blinked once before turning to the side “Please, take a seat on that there biobed” He walked towards the bed and grabbed a Medical tricorder from a nearby tray “Are there any new issues or matters I should be made aware of that haven’t been put in your file yet?” He asked.

Simon walked over and took a seat quietly on the indicated bed. “Nothing out of the ordinary,” He stated, studying the other man curiously with his large black eyes. “You seem quite familiar with Betazoid physiology.” He said plainly.

There was a slight sense of confusion for a moment from the Doctor before he realised why “Ah yes” He raised the scanner wand and started the basic medical scan “I remember and understand most facts and pieces of information I study. I was a Scientist before I became a medical doctor and one of my focuses was Xenobiology” he tapped his head with his left index finger, still holding the tricorder. He spoke with no small hint of self-satisfaction and arrogance “I was made aware of the fact we were to receive a Betazed officer so I did brush up on it, it’s the most intriguing aspect of the job, understanding alien physiology.”

“Ahh yes,” Simon said, smiling. “That was very prudent of you. You are so fortunate to have such an astounding memory.” He studied the man with his eyes, allowing his telepathic senses to remain open. “I look forward to working with you.”

Jack nodded “I do apologize if my thoughts or feelings won’t share your sentiment, I’ve always had an innate distrust of Telepaths and counselors. Trust that it isn’t personal” He said in an unusual mixture of blunt politeness. “Although I did have a copacetic relationship with your predecessor but I think that had more to do with the fact that I enjoy conversations using sign language” He finalized his scans and checked the results.

“You do not have to apologize for stating your thoughts and feelings,” Simon said. “It is commendable that you are able to speak the truth and say it so forthright. Many have a tendency to beat around the bush, as the saying goes. I think that trust is earned and I do hope that perhaps I can earn yours.” He looked up, waiting for the results of his scans.

Jack nodded “I hope so as well.” He hesitated “I have a tendency to speak my mind but that isn’t always an appreciated character trait.”

OOC: What do the scan results say?

Scans would show Simon to be in near perfect health. The only abnormal reading would be a high concentration of scar tissue on his left thigh.

“Please, by all means speak your mind openly and freely around me,” Simon said. “It is quite refreshing as a telepath to have someone vocalize their thoughts rather than having to try and read them with my telepathic abilities.”

-Counselor Simon Arbogist

Jack inclined his head as he read the scan results. -“Thank you” He said with a slight smile “Well you seem to be in excellent health and it seems to match up with your medical history, I also noted that you’ve declined the removal of scar tissue, most people who do not wish to remove scars do so because they do not wish to forget the circumstances” His mind was now going over the counsellor’s medical file, another snapshot of a computer screen with all of the information, a slight pause at the stardate of when the injury took place and an immediate connection was made, memories rushed up, a child memory sneaking a look at a news report of fleet movements, of defeats at the hand of a mysterious enemy, news reports that Betazed had been occupied. “There are of course those that do so out of vanity, wanting to seem tough” His expression hadn’t changed “You don’t seem the vain type. In any case, you’re fit for duty, very fit for duty”

Dr. Grey - CMO

Simon gave a little chuckle. “I appreciate your time.” He slid down from the biobed, planting his feet on the floor again, tugging the bottom of his uniform jacket, straightening it. “I hope I’ll get the pleasure of having you come by my office sometime for a little chat.” A subtle way of seeing how the doctor would react to a request for an evaluation of his own.
