As the turbolift doors closed, Shara finally allowed herself to exhale audibly. None of this was supposed to be how it went down. Then again she hadn’t been entirely sure what would happen when she showed up. At least Grayson had been understanding about the conflict of interest and she was grateful the Rear Admiral was going to allow the necessary leeway given Shara’s previous involvement with her daughter’s career (unbeknownst to Faye, of course).

Glancing at Cochrane, she couldn’t help but feel the apprehension grow. “Even if we get the outcome we hope for here, this is not going go well for her, even when her name is cleared. You understand that, right?”

Cochrane didn’t look at her, he simply sighed and said “Can we just burn one bridge at a time, Commander? We have enough on our plate just making sure she lives long enough to get to that point.”

The doors slid open and Cochrane mase his way to the doors of Faye’s lab.
