No one would ever claim Faye to be the most rational person around, and his counterpoints made her refocus. he didn’t get it, did he? She saw the writing on the wall, she understood the terrible position her mother was placed in. Surely Creed already suspected that this is where things were headed, right? She templed her hands and tapped her finger tips together several times before spreading her hands apart. “Treason,” she said simply, gazing at him in slight confusion. “That’s what this whole thing is about. You understand that, right? The investigation into my orders, into my activities is to figure out if I’m a part of whatever treason activities are going on. Because an attempt to undermine Starfleet and the Federation is treason. That’s what I’m having to fight against now.”

Cochrane locked her with a look that said Oh hell no. and then stepped his fingers in return. “That would get you hauled off to Starbase One faster than I could send the order, Faye, and you know it. Treason is too much.” and he though about it for a long moment, just looking at her… then he cocked his head slightly.
She just snorted in a sort of ‘you think?’ response.
“But espionage… that we could certainly handle on the ship. That’s a crime of ‘We know you did it but not quite for who’. I can mention the possibility this may lead to a charge of treason to spice it up. And the added bonus is that whomever we are acting against may underestimate what we suspect, and not be as careful. Thoughts?” he asked.

She nodded. “That a way to go about it, yes. And because Admiral-whomever you spoke to that my mother works for seems to be on the side of reasonability, we might have a chance to pull it off. Creed and my mother will need to play it up, of course, but this way, you’re investigating something and I’m in protective custody effectively. I hate being in confined spaces but I can suck it up if it means I don’t end up in some cell hidden away for the rest of my life. At best.”
Faye leaned back in her seat and gazed up at the ceiling for a moment. If there was anyone who understood the fragility of life, it was her. It didn’t take much to make it unravel some days, and yet, with enough determination and a little bit of hope you could keep going. Finally, she returned her gaze to him. “I understand the risk I’m taking by speeding this whole thing along. My mother could have spent months doing her investigation and I would have been, if not at ease, at least potentially able to go about my life here. But if we want to expose these people, make them misstep, we need to amp up the stakes. You say you want me to decide about my life. I am choosing this as an acceptable risk, even though I know there will be consequences later for it. And I’m willing to take this risk because this ship, this crew, matter to me, Alex. I know people whisper behind my back, that my reputation precedes me. It’s okay. I’m used to it. Because I have been convinced by certain people”-she gave him a smile-“that I have a place here. This is my home. I didn’t go quietly the first time my home was under threat and I won’t this time either.”

He nodded at her and said very well. He tapped the comms and said =^= Commander Creed and guest to the Ready Room immediately.=^= He then looked at Faye.
“You get three minutes to sell them on the plan, then I want you to bolt out of this room as fast as you can. I know you well enough to know that you can elude patrols. They will catch you in the shuttle bay. Reasonable? We need to sell it, after all.”

Faye nodded and simply put her first two fingers together to her forehead, giving him a cheeky salute. It was as irreverent as it was serious. It was Faye to a tee. Mentally though, she was already working through a route and plan of action. There were things she was going to need in order to pull this off well. And she needed to do this exceptionally well or they were all hooped. After all, it wasn’t just her affected here. If she made it out of this in one piece, there were things to be done and things to say.

Ardashir wasn’t long before the two arrived back in as Jack looked around at the door with a quizzical look, wondering just what might be the next steps. “Well… what did we decide on?” he asked with a curt tone.
Creed, XO
Faye eyed them both and then exhaled audibly. “The only way out of this is to make sure I’m in a place where I am safe from whatever external forces are pulling strings. And the only way to do that and keep me on the Manhattan where I want to be is to make the crew thing I’m a spy and arrest me,” she said simply.
Shara was genuinely surprised. “Absolutely not!” she said, shaking her head.
Faye snorted. “Sorry, but you don’t get a say. This is my life, my career. You and Creed and I know the reality here, and that is if someone has framed me for anything, I’m done. I’ll be arrested for treason and this whole thing will have been for nothing. I’ve been convicted for treason before and let me tell you, while I don’t doubt the Federation has nicer prisons, I’m not interested in being a prisoner again. So, we’re doing this my, so that afterwards there is still a possibility that I can have a life where I’m free to make my own choices.”
Not really having a good counter-argument to that, Shara just went quiet, though she folded her arms across her chest.
