<snip>The senior scientist’s eyebrow somehow raised further at the suggestion of the CMO participating in a remote learning course on psychology, before dealing a subtle jab. “Ja, and I’m sure it’s going as well as my correspondence course in forensic physics…” Whatever Wynter was up to, it was sure to be completely and utterly unorthodox!
“You mean like ballistics or ancient aliens,” Jasmine looked at Heinrich with one eyebrow arched. The criminal application of tracing projectiles based on the trajectories was an easy assumption, except those flying bits of metal or plasma were not conducive to hull integrity. It also made the security department, XO, and CO a bit hot under the collar if you had to report ‘Sir we got a problem. Ensign Bunky Jo and Ensign Jedidiah just shot out the window in the rec room with their BB gun.’ In this scenario, you probably didn’t need the forensic physicist because it would be more of a murder trial as the command staff strangled you with their bare hands or turned you to stone with a withering gaze.
“In your spare time do you use your knowledge of physics to prove that the pyramids of earth could not have been built without physics or are you the type that says some celestial l race came, gave us the tech, and then skittered off into the night?”
Pondering the options some more, Heinrich began to eliminate the locations one by one, aloud. “Well, my last symposium was in South Africa - I can’t say I too much like what they have done with the architecture there. Plus, similar to the Australians and New Zealanders, they have far too much of an accent; that’s those three eliminated, I suppose.” Zimmermann’s words were heavily tinted with a German accent, making the claims all the more humorous - but of course, his jesting tone suggested he knew that.
“Hmm… Fiji seems too tropical and exotic - but on the contrary, New York seems far too pedestrian a choice, pardon the pun. I suppose that just leaves Switzerland, by process of elimination…” The sly smile on the CSO’s face alluded to the fact that there may have been reason to believe the Swiss had his vote all along.
“Are you sure that is why you piked Switzerland,” Jasmine looked at Heinrich a bit more skeptically and studied his coif. She did not know much about Heinrich but she knew Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. Everyone knew his hair. Heinrich’s love of physics, his retirement dream of Switzerland and secret hobby of ancient physics might be even more telling than this quiz.
“That, or the fact it’s a hub for every noteworthy physicist. Not that it swayed my decision… that much.” Heinrich beamed at Jasmine, awaiting her reaction - and her next question.
Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer“Okay next one,” Jasmine looked at the PaDD. “What is your favorite day of the week minus Sunday?”
Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO
Kaia listened to the two, curious.

Meanwhile, in shuttle two, Jack began the pre flight check. “Docking control this is Commander Creed, what is our eta?”
Creed, XO
Logan found himself getting onto the second shuttle, with the XO. He nodded as he took the tactical station. Then he started to run the standard pre-flight check on the shuttle’s defensive systems. “I rather wish that this was a runabout,” he admitted as he worked. “They have a much higher safety rating.”
Lt. Logan Drake
CoSBOth shuttles where given the green light to head out of the shuttle bays and toward the surface and the distress signal.

Kaia yawned gently as she watched the shuttle’s path through the viewscreen.

It would take the two shuttles approximately 45 minutes to reach the source of the beacon. Once there, they would find that the upper atmosphere was very turbulent and had ion storms occurring. The scans would show that the surface was fairly calm, however there was seismic activity being caused by the gravity well that was slowly pulling the planet towards it.
The two shuttles would make it safely to the surface and find that the atmosphere was hospitable to them. The beacon was another short walk from where the shuttles would be able to set down.

Jack made it out, looking around he scanned finding the beacon he lead his team down to rendezvous.
Creed, XO
Sheriye exited the other shuttle with her science kit in hand and taking the tricorder off her belt she activated it to scan their immediate area. She nodded to the XO, whom she had not had the chance to really meet yet but she recognized him by sight. Her ears swiveled as she took in the sounds of the area and she sniffed to take in the scents. These were natural, instinctive responses that she as a Caitian had in any new area.
Sheriye Sci
“Tell me that this is normal,” Jasmine said to Sheriye as she stepped on the planet. There seemed to be a slight vibration under her feet. Maye it was her imagination running away with her. She heard the reports of seismic vibrations which instantly brought to mind every disaster movie she had ever seen: Volcano, Dante’s Peak, and Pompeii were the main three that set her imagination coursing to the idea of Pierce Brosnan rowing her across an acid lake or Milo carrying her away on a fast steed. Only one of those two endings ended happy.
Lt. Jasmine Wynter CMO
Sheriye glanced up at the CMO.”The sseissmic activity and ion sstorrmss? Verry underrsstandable given the sstresss on the planet caused by the grravity well.” She said distractedly as she continued to work her tricorder.
Sheriye Sci
The smaller felinoid followed closely after her fellow science officer, using her tricorder more on the ground to test the soil and make sure the ground they stepped on was safe to… step on. Her ears flicked around nervously, but she calmed down after a few moments. Her tail was low, wrapped slightly around one leg.

Logan exited his shuttle following the xo. He had slung over his shoulder his trusty phaser rifle
He left his tricorder in its carrying case. He surveyed the area for any potential threats.Lt Logan Drake
CSO“You picking up anything Lieutenant?” Jack asked, surveying with his eyes he knew the tricorder would give them a better readout.
Creed, XO
Logan tapped his tricorder in irritation. “I’m still waiting for results, Sir,” he said. “I am picking up the local atmospheric interference.”
Lt Logan Drake
CoSKaia continued to follow after Sheriye quietly. She was fascinated by this strange new place, but didn’t have anything to say.

The beacon would be about another 20 feet in front of them. They could hear voices that sounded concerned as a large seismic tremor happened. As the group came up on them, they looked up at the movement coming towards them “Halt…who are you?” The older man said. He was dressed in long robes and wore a headdress of some religion that was not known to the group at this point. Behind them was a table with what could only be described as religious relics.
Discovery Mouse
Jasmine reached into her medical bag and thumbed on her tricorder. She had no idea who the man was nor if he would appreciate being scanned. Still she had a obligation to her crew to take care of them. Anything they could find out about the man in front of them could be useful. She would not be able to read the results now without being obvious but at some point the data would be there to study later if needed.
