Well that was always the awkward question, now wasn’t it? There was the real answer, and then there was the safe one- the one for public consumption. If she needed to, she could disclose certain things to Jasmine, but some random junior doctor? Not happening. Faye shook her head. “Nothing you need to worry about,” she said casually.

The doctor’s eyes were unwavering, betraying no measure of response until a slow blink accompanied her words. “I see.” Che’lak had further curiosities regarding the lieutenant’s case which she had no doubt had potential to be mined for enlightening reflections of the human condition. Inexperienced as she may have been with patients, however, she needed little to realise that further inqueries would more than likely be met with rejection, not to mention that Doctor Wynter would undoubtedly be displeased to discover her treating a patient as a subject of research.
Faye was relieved there wasn’t going to be some sort of standoff because she wouldn’t disclose everything. But she also knew that there as nothing anyone could do for her and those that maybe could she wanted nothing to do with.
“I trust my brevity has been to your satisfaction”, the Vulcan put forth as she stepped back from the bed. “Unless there is anything else you wish to discuss we are both free to escape this mundanity.”

Faye slipped off the bed. “Nope! That’s about it. But…” She paused and her stormy eyes gazed deeply at Che’lak for a moment. “But thank you,” she said, before she slipped around the doctor and headed for the door.

The doctor simply watched on as a sentry as Faye departed. Her new crew had certainly proved to be a diverse, eccentric lot. Diversity was attractive and interesting to the woman. Eccentricity… less so. Calloway was mentally added to Che’lak’s list of her amicable, tolerable relationships on which she planned to build. No doubt, she was here to work but even an individual as, well, individual as her had an instinctive need to integrate among their peers.
After quickly firing the results of the examination into the ship’s records the Vulcan retired to her quarters to begin an evening of valued meditation.
