Calloway was a special case and Zef wanted to treat her as such.Not with kid gloves, but with plain dialog that would be difficult to misconstrue. The woman had been through many hardships during developmental years that had helped shape the person she was now. She had occasional issues with others that spiraled into physical confrontations and had been labeled with a personality disorder that required monitoring. But she was also said to be a brilliant scientist. Time would tell.

“Why don’t you tell me how you feel about these mandatory appointments?” Depending on what Calloway said, Rollo would know better how to approach her therapy.

Calloway ran the edge of her right thumb back and forth over the handle of her mug while she pondered. “I understand the need for them.” She shook her head slowly. “I’ve been to a place in my head that I don’t want to go back to. And everything since that day has been about trying to make sense of where I was and where I want to go. Clearly the path is not only mot straight for me, but also muddied. Complicated. So be it,” she added with a shrug. Faye sighed slightly, her eyes showing a hint of weariness. “I’m okay being here and doing the work. I can’t promise it will go smoothly, or I won’t have days where I resent being here, but I do want thing s to keep getting better. I’ve made it this far and I’ll be damned if I lose it all now because I let the… less rational part of my head take over.”
