=^= We’ve been doing some scans from the Manhattan, trying to see if we can help identify what is happening down on the surface. We’ve detected some form of radiation spreading out from the farm region, and it seems to be connecting to the other areas having problems on the surface. =^=
WO Darach - COO
A deep frown appeared on Naim’s face as she listened carefully to Darach’s report. Radiation spreading out form the region didn’t sound good at all. Would it be a danger to the people down there? Would it be a danger to them? And where did it come from? What was the source? All those questions raced through her head as she looked at Calloway and tried to order her thoughts so she wouldn’t bombard Darach with all her questions. After a pause that felt like an eternity to her but probably lasted only a couple of seconds, she asked, =/\= I suspect you haven’t been able yet to determine what type of radiation it might be? Though from the sound of your report, it seems like that farming region is the source. Were you able to localise the point of origin more precisely? =/\=

=^= That’s a negative Lieutenant. We were able to track it to area, but the radiation is interfering with our scanners. But we are definitely seeing a hard link between the radiation in your area with the other regions, including the power plant. =^=
WO Darach - COO
Holding back a sigh, Naim replied, =/\= Thank you, Darach. We’ll see what we can find out once we arrive there. I’ll keep you posted. Naim out. =/\= Tearing her gaze from the landscape below, she looked at Calloway, one eyebrow raised. She was wondering what she was thinking, while realising that she probably should have made sure Faye didn’t want to ask something before she ended the conversation with Darach.

Knots had been taking care to keep their flight stable - it was not a difficult thing with this minor turbulence but it kept her focused as the conversation went on. When it was done she tapped a control that put it on auto-pilot and swiveled in the seat. “Radiation. We thought that and tested it but it came up negative.” She frowned and scratched her nose. “We wanted to contract a Kazon ship to do a fly by to scan it but their cost was too high and, well, at the time it was only a small area affected.” Knots shook her head, her hair flowing with the motion. “From where I wonder. You have good sensors,” she said. “Sometimes I think it would be nice to push on in technology, but I’m a minority voice. Still, I can’t complain. There is so much to study even where we are. The universe even down to a world is so detailed and alive and every discovery leads to another mystery. Do you find that?”
- KnotsFaye had been listening the entire time but was now lost in thought as se thought over what this could mean. It would have to be something that they could scan for but that the locals couldn’t detect. And that the type couldn’t be easily identified was strange as well. There were only so many types of radiation. Except that they were in the Delta Quadrant and there could be technological origins that they wouldn’t know to look for. But she wasn’t about to voice that idea just yet. She turned to Knots and smiled. “Yes, I do. I grew up on a colony and even in our small settlement, where we didn’t have tons of technology either, we had plenty around us to explore. Mysteries don’t have to be on a grand scale in order to be worthwhile,” she said, meaning every one of her words.
“How much further to the farm lands?” Faye asked.
~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist
“About a half hour at this speed. We’re not in one of the faster fliers. We should be able to start seeing the area in another 10 minutes or so. Can’t miss it really. A yellow blight in what would otherwise be a nice blue field. I’ll bring us down a bit under the clouds to better see it.” As she worked over the next few minutes to bring the craft down, they could see the fields below in neat checkerboards and hexes, occasionally criss crossed by streams and wooded areas. Stone fencelines noting borders wove throughout. A small lake could be seen in the distance, waves shimmering in the reflected sunlight.
“Ahhh .. I grew up on stories of colonies and things out there.” Turning the craft just a bit. “Should be coming into view on your left in the distance. What is a colony like? I mean how does that work and is it exciting? I know, I’m contradicting myself. There is such amazing things here but one can’t help but think of the ‘what if’s’.”
As the minutes rolled past there came visible a long stretch of discolored territory. It was tear shaped and long like a comet though there were other ‘tendrils’ that affected other areas next to it like little tentacles snaking out. These were not yellow in color but was discoloring those areas with a ‘bluegrass’ like tint. It might not be that visible from the ground, they would guess, but was so from the air.
