Jack nodded as he got up, leading out the door first as the pair began to make their way to the Bridge to reach the ready room. After a few moments, they stood in front of the door as Jack reached up and paged to alert the Captain they had arrived. He wasn’t quite sure where he needed to go next.

Creed, XO

bump

“Come.” came the clipped response and the door slid open. Cochrane sat behind his desk and nodded at the XO and Faye. “Be seated, please.” and indicated the now three chairs in front of his desk, instead of the regular two.

Faye eyed the chairs as she headed for one on the end to Cochrane’s left. Clearly they were expecting someone else (and her mind recalled that Creed had mentioned a she), and while she wanted to ask, her mind was most focused on the issue at hand. “Commander Creed and I have discussed the oddity in our mutual unawareness of each other others. I said all I could do have talk to you, since you were the one who read the confirmation of my orders,” Faye said, gazing expectantly at the captain.

“Hold that thought, Lieutenant. Let’s wait until we have the all interested parties in here, shall we?” Cochrane replied. It was obvious from his tone that the Captain was not exactly happy with… well… whatever this was.

That was her cue. And she hated it.

It wasn’t the imminent reunion with her daughter, no. That she had been looking forward to for years. But it was the knowledge that her very presence in the ready room would instantly smash her daughter’s world into a million pieces and she knew there wasn’t a damn thing she could do to prevent it. Shara Calloway was many things, but above all she was a realist and as a realist she understood that while there were a few things she could do to mitigate some of her daughter’s more erratic behaviours, the emotional turmoil she was about to inflict was inevitable.

Leaving her little hiding spot in the meeting room, Shara moved for the bridge and to the ready room. Approaching, the door slid open and she stepped in.

Faye turned at the sound, looking over her shoulder. She was already on edge over the confusing conversation between her and Creed, and now the Captain’s cryptic behaviour was making her feel even more unnerved. So she was well prepared for conflict, her mind immediately prepping itself for a fight it could only assume was coming but had little information about. She could always be prepared for a fight.

What she was not prepared for was the form that unknown party took.

Twisting more in her seat, Faye’s jaw slid open as she rose out of the chair to her feet. The hair, the eyes, the lines of her face. All were the same as she remembered. Certainly though, the uniform and its particular black division colour left her stunned. They were bits of information she hadn’t had before and couldn’t seem to fit into anything resembling reality. What the hell was going on here?!

Faye blinked. When had she last taken a breath? Could she even take one? She couldn’t feel sensations so her awareness of her own body seemed strangely gone.

Shara watched the utter confusion and pain shift through her daughter’s grey-green eyes and she felt a stabbing sort of sensation in her gut. “Hello, Faye,” she said softly.

Mouth trying to move, trying to form words that would not come out, Faye looked back at Cochrane feeling as if someone had just slapped her across the face unexpectedly.

Cochrane’s jaw was clenched and his gaze stoic. He didnt say anything to Faye, he just nodded once in confirmation that yes, that was who she thought it was. He then looked towards the elder Calloway and gestured to one of the chairs in front of the desk.

Faye couldn’t move.

Eyeing the chairs, Shara took the most kind and reasonable option under the circumstances. She sat in the chair on Cochrane’s left, leaving poor Creed to sit between the two woman.

Meanwhile, Faye looked at the door. Instinct told her to run. Fight or flight was powerful and it had saved her life before. Except this wasn’t a life or death situation before. Or was it? As curious as she was about the very unexpected confirmation of her mother’s existence, she was strangely and very suddenly angry. She did not sit. Not yet.

“Someone needs to tell me what the fvadt is going on here,” Faye said eerily calm, though what was simmering under the surface was likely to be terrible for everyone.

Cochrane looked at her. It was obvious he wasnt enjoying this, but his words were calm… if heavily weighted.

“Lieutenant. Please take a seat. When Mr. Creed arrives we can delve into the particulars. For now, I just want you to take a breath. As much as it may seem, this is not some kind of ambush. This is a discussion between all involved parties on a matter pertinent to this ship.” and the man looked back and forth between the two.
