Then, without so much as a warning, the arm drew back and the rock flew straight towards the charging mass. It struck true, hitting one of the steeds and knocking it’s head sideways and causing it to fall. The horsemen behind couldn’t stop in time and their horses fell over the first, causing a good number of the riders to be unhorsed. : : : : : : : : Hammor moved back. “I hate hurting animals. Even holographic ones.” he said as he moved inside. : : : : : : : : Hammor, COO : : : : : : Balian nodded an agreement as he too faded back into the shadows, becoming one with the darkness. He was not adverse to hurting animals when needed, but regretted needlessly doing so. It was also an insight into the character of the man that ran his operations department. Though the large Orion regretted the action he did so when it was needed. It was a few more moments before the hard soled footwear of the Cavalrymen were heard upon the stairs outside. The language they spoke was not easily recognizable, but had they wanted the universal translator would have translated it. Balian happened to know the particular dialect they spoke, so had left the UT off for the program. The first rank stepped into the darkness straining to let their eyes adjust to the smoky poorly lit temple to some forgotten god. This time Balian was willing to let the Orion start the dance. : : : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, CO : : : : As he heard the footsteps coming up the stairs, Daggum freed the spear-and-chain combination from it’s storage. The tip of the short spear contained a wicked looking barb, and Daggum grasped the short shaft of the weapon in one hand and the end of the chain in the other. Taking a deep breath, he moved from the shadows into the doorway while drawing back the spear and letting it fly in one smooth motion. The weapon flew straight into the right shoulder of the lead cavalryman, punching through skin and bone and exiting through the back of the joint. Almost simultaneously, Hammor yanked back on the chain, causing the wounded soldier to stumble forward into Hammor’s waiting arms. With a speed contradictory to his size, Hammor looped the chain around the man’s neck and pulled it tight. Blood poured from the wound across Hammor’s front, and the man’s feet lifted off the ground. He was held up as a shield, as Daggum’s other hand reached for and found the stone knife; readying it for his shield’s partners to arrive. Daggum moved to the side of the door, covering his exposed side with the helpless and slowly suffocating man’s body and leaving space for Barazan to take on the new arrivals as well. : : : : Hammor, COO : : Instead of flanking the door, Balian moved in and out of the Flickering light backwards deeper into the Temple, His sword thrumming on the edge of his shield. Attempting to get them to push too far in before they realized exactly where the hulking Orion was at. Then they would have them as easy meat. Thrummm Thrummm Thrumm, “Come to find glory or fate at the end of my Blade.” Balian Stated, once he had drawn them far enough. He went from what looked like a fairly casual stance, to a furious flurry of motion. The tip of his blade was like a viper as he ducked and dodged the bedlam, flickering out cutting exposed flesh as if it had a will of its own. This time there was no parrying from the Captain, it was flexibility of motion. Always just a half an inch out of reach of steel that sought his flesh, or catching it with the shield edge. : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, CO : Hammor was not nearly as graceful as Barazan, but that did not make him ineffective. The stone knife flicked in and out from behind the human shield, neatly slicing flesh and severing tendons and ligaments as the tip dug into joints and was just as quickly ripped free. The man he used as shield distracted his fellows, who tried not to hurt him with the thrusts of their weapons, but whose hesitation made them leave openings for the stone blade to exploit. Soon the steps and landing at the top of the stairs coming to the door were slick with blood, sweat, and ichor; making the footing precarious. More than one slid into a haphazard position, only to have their body’s lifeblood flow to mix with the others on the floor. : Hammor, COOBump so we don’t lose in the switch.

Though they were strongly outnumbered as the Calvary men pressed into the temple doorway. Tactically and Strategically they held the superior position. It was a long few minutes of work to make these men pay for their mistake. The Captain stepped out of the shadows as the Chief Operations Officer fell the last of the men that attempted to enter the Temple. There was a sheen of sweat, and streaks of other men’s blood that covered him.
“Well Daggum, I think we have done well” Balian stated with a smile.
