USS Manhattan

Like clockwork

USS Manhattan — Security Office
Location: Armory / Security Office
Subject: Daily Reporting and Routine Oversight

The interior of the armory was bathed in the cool, rhythmic pulse of Manhattan’s status lights. While the deck outside hummed with the ambient noise of a starship in transition, the interior of Lieutenant Kreeger’s office remained a pocket of absolute, sterile silence.
Kreeger sat behind his desk, his posture mirroring the rigidity he demanded of his department. His shoulders were broad enough to make the standard-issue chair look undersized, and his uniform was pressed to an exacting standard. In his hand, a steaming mug of black coffee—no replicator frills, just heat and caffeine—offered the only sign of comfort in the room.
He scrolled through the latest duty logs on his personal terminal. His eyes, sharp and analytical, flicked over personnel rotation schedules and tactical sensor calibrations. He paused on a discrepancy in the quarterly phaser maintenance reports, his jaw tightening slightly. A soft clink echoed as he set the mug down, the sound precise and controlled.
He tapped a command into the console to flag the maintenance chief for a briefing, his expression unreadable. For Kreeger, the peace of the armory wasn’t a reprieve from duty; it was the crucible where he ensured that when the chaos eventually arrived, his team would be the ones to contain it.
He took another slow, deliberate sip of coffee, his gaze never leaving the display, waiting for his door chimes to signal the next issue that required his attention.
